We real need to stop with the excuses.
Confidence. Prior to this poor run we had won 4 and drawn 1 of our previous 5. Beating Bradford, decent draw at Newport, 4-0 against Oldham and 3-1 away at Bristol Rovers. Sweeping the opposition aside. So our confidence would have been sky high as we entered this poor run in second place in the table. We were amongst the divisions highest scorers and with Smith amongst the individual top scorers. To suggest this run is down to confidence is absolute nonsense in my opinion. Confidence must have been sky high, we were flying. Of late I can understand some loss of confidence but that’s what top managers are for, to deal with it. So let’s forget this confidence thing.
Time to gel. The team gelled enough to get us up to second place, beat some top teams like Exeter and Bradford convincingly. Scored goals etc etc. No gelling issues there. The team have proved what they can do. The team Have got it together, Harrogate apart, there has been no signs of a lack of cohesion in the squad. So let’s forget this time to gel stuff. As a team they came together very well, early on.
I have no idea why we have gone from free scoring to a team that struggles to get a shot on target. 2 in over 3 hours of football, shocking. But what is plainly obvious is that our primary threat, Smith, has been nullified. Opposition managers have sussed our main threat and cancelled it out. We have reverted to too many long balls than generally come to nothing. More annoying the way our back three move the ball forward is a back pass to LV so he can hoof it up. Our fast-paced floor-based game has been replaced with hoofs as the primary weapon. it ain’t working.

Must admit we play better with the ball on the ground instead of boing, boing. We have put some good crosses in of late, but no one to meet them.Smith, while not scoring is laying some good balls off,but again no one near enough to take advantage. In total agreement with the messing about at the back with the ball. With each pass the opposition gets nearer and causes a panic, then the hoof to the opposition, loss of the ball, or kick the ball inanely into touch.

I agree with most of this Dohnut and what I would also say is,people keep saying Jacket is an experienced manager but at this very moment I’m not seeing it TBH. I was expecting a little more sorry to say. We’re the Portsmouth fans right about him? I hope not. I’ve been an Orient supporter for over 55 and I think you get conditioned to what to expect from the club/team over the years. People are to easily pleased. If I were a board member (I know I’m not)at this moment I would be questioning what exactly what I’m getting for my money and if I were a season ticket holder I would and should be getting a little more. It might not sound like it but the O’s have and will always be in my heart,it’s my team just like all of you, I just want them to succeed but at this moment 💁🙈

The pompy fans basically told us this is what would happen. They didn't berate him for his lack of winning it was his style they didn't like. The choices he made. But at the end of the day he had a fantastic record that really is what we brought. We would all take a 50% win ratio. I prefer a better style and a lesser win ratio tbh but MM and donut I suspect you both would take the points over style. Both is the dream but rarely happens. All I am saying is give the guy some time. He will get us out of this division given that time. As I said before Rome wasn't built in a day. I feel like he is still trying to formulate formations and tactics a little. You will all say he has had plenty of time for that and maybe he has but that's what it feels like to me.

You can tell by some of his post match interviews he knows he hasn't got all the players he wants , he would love the younger newbies to the squad to grow up faster but it aint happening , in fact some of them have gone backwards . He might have to wait until next season to be able to build on the youngsters we've got and utilise their talents ,especially Young and popadopalous ,as well as Nkryumha and hope Dan comes good again .

Yes agreed. We don't know what happens behind the scenes. He might of had one or two in the pipeline that fell through last minute or maybe he didn't have the budget.... Maybe ling didn't like the players and didn't send the fax through (joke by the way, just not seen a ling bash in a while). At the end of the day jacket has brought hope more than any other manager would of done. I go to games thinking we will win rather than seeing a draw or loss... Or worse hoping for a draw... 😂 Time is all they need. Let the experience of jackett come through. Let him coach... Give him time. League one this year or next is a very good return and fits in with the boards expectations.

How much is "some time". If you are talking 18 months then he will not be with us. If you are talking 3 months then it will be too late for this season. We really need things to start happening in the next 3 weeks.

I dont think we have sufficent quality up front, nor in centre midfield, to achieve automatic promotion.
Whether anyone will come in during January, is yet to be seen.
I would love to ask KJ ( or Ling), why we brought Drinnan to the club. His goalscoring record was atrocious....i believe he had a long loan spell at Sutton in the NL, and didint score a single goal. I would really love to know why he came here. He runs around a lot, but hasnt much quality tbf.
I would like to see Ruel given a decent number of games, playing up front in a 4-4-2 or a 3-5-2. This is his proper position, and he would score goals for us.
Maybe Reilly will be the midfielder we crave ( if he ever gets fit), if not, we need to bring in someone good, in that position.
The league is very close, so a few wins will see us in the top 3, before long, but on the other hand, the longer we go on this winless run, the harder it will be to get back up ( obviously)

Hi jimbo, I know we mainly don’t see eye to eye but I know we both really like the club as many others do,but like lebest said “how long do you want”?I think it’s no good waiting till after Christmas that’s to late in my book, results have to happen from now. I don’t blame Ling(that’s a first) or the the board it’s simply down to the back room staff and scouting network IMO. To answer your question about points over style you’re damn right I would I’d take the points every day. People will come to watch a winning team and I personally would use any tactic that got me that win. As for formation Jackets, been a manager for donkeys and if he doesn’t know what formation to use to beat a team then he should jacket( pardon the pun)it in now. But that’s my main bone of contention,he simply doesn’t know how to beat these teams and that to me is a worry. But I appreciate your point of view too.🙈

Come the final table it’s the team with the most points that goes up. Points got us out of the NL and let’s be honest, we didn’t do it with consistent style, we did it with football that ground out results even when we were not at our best. The measure of a good team. KJ has plenty of time. I have little doubt he will get it right. I’m sure 10th is our low point. But in the meantime we need to accept our ability to grind out results is poor, our ability to create chances has evaporated. No excuses, no blame (excuses it seems is definitely not the KJ way), just hard work to get us back on track. Saturday will be a good time, playing a struggling team. Mind you, so was Mansfield!

Donut and you want wins no matter how they come and that is something good and draws fans who share a similar philosophy. When I look at teams and managers I admire there is something more to them. Mouriniho is a born winner but I don't admire him or want him to manage my team. I would take wenger over him all day long. I would take Eddie howe over Jose as well. The things I love about orient is not always the things on the pitch as lets face it its not always brilliant in fact quite the opposite but we can be proud of alot of other things and I believe we have always done the right thing. Stood by people. I often think when did football become more than an entertainment to people. You just want to win as if that's all there is... Sport is entertainment and we should want to be entertained. We spend alot of money on entertainment but you are happy to spend alot of money on hoofball if it gets you a win. Going back to the point of how long is long. We'll I would say the board have told us in a round about way. They have a 5 year plan to be in and around the top of league one in 5 years. To me that suggests to hit that target we need promotion within two. Preferably this year but its not end of the world if its next. We are building something and that takes time. We don't need wins within 3 weeks or now. Jackett will be here and as long as we have progression and a plan I would say the board will give him time... Seems like some on here think he has three weeks to save his job... I really hope orient are not like on of those teams that sack managers every time they drop a few points here and there

Pretty much how I see it too. kJ has time, of that there is no doubt. If we don’t get promotion this season, the expectation next is a given. Thereafter it will be back to the drawing board.

This is a bit of a manufactured crisis imho. If or when KJ and the current group of players can get us out of this division who knows? I’m willing to wager however that we’ll be in the top seven come the time 46 matches have been played. 👍

Agree with you that a finish outside the playoff spots must be regarded as a failure. Interesting that you feel there is no doubt that KJ will be given time - especially as around this time last year you were confident Embleton had “ the safest job in football” !😄👍

Play hoofball,on the ground or what ever,we have to score one more goal than the opposition it’s as simple as that, and if Jacket can do that, it’s ok in my book, although some may disagree which is fine🙈

I really hope orient are not like on of those teams that sack managers every time they drop a few points here and there I think the 5 year plan was set a while back so the target is now this season or next for league 1 football. This season if not promotion then playoffs. Anything less is failure given the investment and new sponsors. Bottom line No playoffs or better = failure. Pretty much how I see it too. kJ has time, of that there is no doubt. If we don’t get promotion this season, the expectation next is a given. Thereafter it will be back to the drawing board. I think the 5 year plan was set towards the end of last season if memory serves me correctly. So I suspect it didn't include last year.

Personally , I don’t fully get the criticism that is being levelled by some about the KJ style. Is it vastly different from that employed by Justin Edinburgh for instance? I think not. This is a bit of a manufactured crisis imho. If or when KJ and the current group of players can get us out of this division who knows? I’m willing to wager however that we’ll be in the top seven come the time 46 matches have been played. 👍 I personally don’t care about the style red it’s the formation that has to go with the style,it’s no good lumping it up to Smith hoping that he knocks it on to a player that’s more than 25 meters away. Play hoofball,on the ground or what ever,we have to score one more goal than the opposition it’s as simple as that, and if Jacket can do that, it’s ok in my book, although some may disagree which is fine🙈 Maybe I’m wrong 🐵 but I can’t believe KJ instructs players that the ball should be lumped up aimlessly to Smith! We can all see the service into him has not been great over the last couple of games and I’m pretty certain Jackett will see the same thing. Clearly it’s up to him to ensure the players provide a better delivery but as we also know once blokes step over the white line even the best of managers are sometimes hostages to fortune! Let’s hope the team can be a bit more incisive going forward this weekend than has been the case of late ( although I still think the FGR performance was - overall- a decent one). 🤞👍
