The players that we've signed are an upgrade on last season and when they gel we're going to be a real force in this league.
The major difference between this and last season for me is that we have some steel about us and we've never looked out of a game at any point this season.
That's not to say there isn't work to be done still. I maintain that we've only played well in parts and yet to string a bit of momentum together.
To show how far we've come we've taken on Forest Green that have taken 4 years to get where they are in the league and gone toe to toe with them. The two games we've lost have been against Harrogate and Port Vale who were both top 3 as of yesterday.
When you think of other teams that brought in a top manager and had a rebuild like Bradford, Mansfield, Bristol Rovers, Walsall and Salford I think Kenny and Gallen deserve some huge praise for our start.
I think we're playing football like a top 7 team. Not bad all things considered.
Really buzzing for the next few months, the January window, Smyth and Reilly getting up to speed, and then the rest of the season.
Up the O's!

I can understand the odd person feeling a bit uppity when we hit a bad run but I think we will soon turn it around. We will of course hit another spell when we don't get the points we hoped for but as long as its only a few boarders who panic and not the management team we will be ok. We are four points off second place in mid October. I'd have taken that at the start of the season.

There’s no doubt that the players are showing a good deal more resilience and application this season than has been the case since we were promoted out of the NL Clearly the changes to personnel are a factor in that but as you say KJ & Gallen deserve credit for that too. Of course, there are some areas that need to be worked on. The seemingly perennial problem of a central midfield that cannot take a game by the scruff of the neck is still there. Pratley has been ok but not had the impact that had been hoped , Kyprianou is still very young and Clay is what he is. Hopefully Reilly will be fit enough in the next couple of weeks and can get into the starting XI and make a real improvement in there. On the positive side , the defence looks solid and should get better as Mitchell & Ogie get more playing time and competition increases with the return of Thompson. Likewise , despite a recent barren spell, there is some good quality and options up front now that Smyth has returned and I think the goals will come if the team play as they did last night.

I think 12 games is still too early to judge properly, it gives a rough idea but seeing as we're an almost brand new team I think they deserve up to 20 games before we know where we are.
Without the calamity in injury time at Port Vale we'd now be sitting pretty in 4th and only a point away from the auto spot.
That was a credible point last night against the mighty FGR and probably the strongest team we're gonna play for a while.
At the start of the campaign I would have been happy to be where we are right now.
Bolton were on 13 points after 12 games last season.

Over the past 4 complete seasons (ie ignoring the aborted 19/20 season) you have needed 79,79,84 and 85 points respectively to finish third.
And 73,71,75 and 70 points to finish 7th.
So lets say that 85 points is enough to be fairly sure of 3rd place and 73 points for 7th. On this basis we are currently 5 points short of where we need to be for automatic promotion (24 points after 13 games) and 1.5 points off the 20.5 points needed to be on course for the playoffs.
But I have always said that we should have a better second half of the season, as the squad gels. And importantly, KJ's experience and know-how in what (hopefully!) is a promotion run-in will be invaluable.
I'm still optimistic, albeit tempered with a bit more cautiously than perhaps a month ago.

So you think other squads won’t improve either come the second half of the season. We ain’t the only ones with new players. And KJ has experience aplenty so another few games won’t add too much to his skill set. I’m sure he wants to be well placed from the start. we are not in the ascendancy squad wise. We are in decline. So much for the squad gelling and experience. No matter how we dress it up, how many excuses we make, we’ve gone from 2nd to 10th in the space of a month. And from a team scoring goals to one that has created 2 on target chances in over 3 hours of football. Now that is poor. Jam tomorrow is all very well. How’s about some on Saturday against an in decline Stevenage team. If we can’t win there then we will be in real decline.

And they beat FGR too.

Fair point. They've started really well. I had them nailed on for relegation after their issues.
Just proves that there is no magical formula.

A basket case. I thought they were all but gone. Can they keep it up? Thus far the performers of the season. No magic formulas exist in football. Clubs do their best then it’s down to results. Saturday will be the start of a real good run for us. I enjoyed our win there when Ruel scored, our third I think. I’ll be there Saturday, even Mrs DOh is going. Lunch in the Harvester pub, I think there is one close by. Then 3 points.
