There's a thread in the other place about a DM article claiming that the Premier League is to recommend mandatory vaccinations/vaccine passports for professional footballers. The direction of travel is pretty clear, with the Government mandating vaccinations for social care workers and consulting on the same for NHS workers. Other employers are likely to fall in line. We can add to this mix PM Johnson referring to vaccine passports for sporting (and other) large events. As this forum is usually a more calm and considered place, and to pre-empt any hoo ha on this subject, I thought I'd put some links to resources on the issue of vaccinations, mandatory, contractual or otherwise. I routinely recommend these to my advice network as a decent overview, which are objective and based on facts rather than a distillation of other "resources" you might find elsewhere on social media. The House of Commons library briefing resources are essentially what MPs (should) use to get up to speed with policy areas. commonslibrary.parliament.uk/coronavirus/coronavirus-vaccination/www.lewissilkin.com/en/insights/coronavirus-vaccination---faqs-for-employersI should add I mostly attend away games due my location and am desperate to get back to Tuesday nights away at Accrington Stanley or similar - I kind of feel like a couple of hours standing in the open air on an often modestly populated terrace is going to be far safer environment than a bus or shop, regardless of the implications of an effective vaccination policy. Up the Os.

Welcome sheffieldo.A very intersting and enlightening post.Anything that will get us all back into the stadiums and such places is welcome.None of us like Government interference with our liberties, but this must be a one off. I have had two jabs, although that is not a panacea to end this covid menace it is hopefully a great help in that direction. Right or wrong since it started I have had a laissez-faire attitude towards it anyway, but have done what was required of me for the safety of others.

Vaccine passports make sense, for those eligible to have a jab. Had to show mine to get entry to Lords for England Vs Pakistani. An expectation for my Holiday in January, if it happens, to reduce quarantine risk.
Restaurants, sporting venues, nightclubs. Why not. I don’t believe widespread mandatory vaccinations for all, but I do feel an extension to current medical professionals requirements is sound. Clear evidence that it reduces personal risk and transmission risk.
For those who object, then don’t, but accept others have a right to be protected from you.

How do you show it,by the covid app or the card given at the jab location. Its on the main NHS App (as opposed to the COVID Track ‘n Trace app)

Redshank’s post prompted me to look at my COVID “passport” on the NHS App. It’s changed since I last looked, it now has an expiry, which for me is 22 August 2021 😫
Previously there was no expiry. I had my first jab in January (NHS worker) and the second early April.

I. Sure if you select the get passport option next week you will see it as one month on from then.

I have just seen it on you tube as northeasto pointed out it on the NHS app.It can be done by email, smartpnone or even a telephone call.I do wonder though if it will be a constant,or for every occasion you have to have another go.

I understand people’s views on the efficacy of vaccine passports especially if travelling abroad but making such steps mandatory is a step to far imho for travel within the UK. Unfortunately history shows quite clearly that withdrawal or loss of freedoms is rarely if ever “ a one off”. No problems with those who feel they need to carry one but personally I don’t think it will do anything to lessen infections and simply turns one group of people in society against another something that is all to prevalent. As for mandatory vaccines - again no way for me - and I speak as someone who has had both jabs.

Not in favour of vaccine passports.
Totally in favour of the vaccine.
The entire country have had long enough now to get a jab if they wanted one.
It's like going to Spain and moaning about the heat.
Don't go to an event with thousands of other people and then complain if you catch something.
Goes back to common sense. If you're susceptible to illness then you're gonna have to do what's good for you.
