The slaughter of troops in the various battles of WW1, "the war to end all wars they said" large areas of the UK villages sacrificed their cream of men to fight in honest belief they were fighting for an honourable cause against German and their allies, against German dominance and tyranny. Generals whose strategy mindset had'nt left the days of Waterloo and the Crimea to fight a war, the onset of mechanised warefare and, chemical warfare, with only cloth masks to prevent breathing in mustard gas. It must have been horrendous. We owe so much but people have short memories. The greed and consumerism of today's society. People melting like snowflakes at the thought of wearing a mask to enter public places, anti vaxers who think they are more knowledgeable than Biotech research fellows who have spent years studying various diseases. The mind boggles at their audacity to doubt Scientists who are trying to stem this another virus. Excellent post fella. I second that !

Germany got dragged in to a conflict that they did not start. Some might disagree with that sentiment.
Germany's Superpower Quest Caused World War I. "The major cause of World War I was Imperial Germany’s determination to become a “world power” or superpower by crippling Russia and France in what it hoped would be a brief and decisive war, like the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71."
