Blackpool finished 8th last season so all in all, quite a good result. Couple of negative results so far and Neil Critchley gets his cards and so the football manager rat race goes on.

How many managers getting the boot have big spending boards.Money sure helps but there is a lot of club insecurity involved. One or two seasons of no promotion and they start gasping for air to keep their heads above the water.

Everything is relative of course but personally I would’nt describe either PNE or Blackpool as big spenders.

Richie is 2/1 favourite for the Blackpool job.

Richie is 2/1 favourite for the Blackpool job. Hardly a shock. Will have a get out contract clause with a fee. But who knows. This sort of thing will come up every time a northern club go looking for a manager. Why would he go when he gets all the players he asks for

Grass is not always greener though.

But he's bought into the path way we are on. So I doubt he'd leave over that.

But he's bought into the path way we are on. So I doubt he'd leave over that. My guess is that 90% of good managers buy in to the direction their employer wants to go. And give 100% to the cause. Those that don’t are often invited to take their talents elsewhere. Buying in, in itself is no reason to stay. loyalty is import but to whom should your loyalty be prioritised. Family first, then employer. Will be compromise, give and take, but that hierarchy should never change. therefore if a job opportunity comes along with the appropriate personal incentives and at the same time benefit the family set up, then you leave. Weigh up the benefits of staying and the risk benefits of moving on. Given our prospects over the next three years, it’s not difficult for other clubs to better our ambitions, which in all honesty are modest and will be until things drastically change. Not a criticism, just the way it is. Will he go? Maybe not. Should he move up? Absolutely.

However, he's been burnt a few times before and one more burn maybe enough to finish him.

One thing to think of is that we are more likely to be relegated than Blackpool are. He doesn't want that on his cv
