The EFL season began One month ago tomorrow and so far, not a sacking in sight! International weekends are often the catalyst for the Chairman to push the button and issue the now customary words of praise the for efforts of the departing manager. Who is under pressure at the moment and when will the first casualty appear? In League Two I should imagine two of the bigger “ names “ - Barton & Clough will be starting to look over their shoulder and John Yems at Crawley might well be another one in the firing line. In League One Richie Wellens at Doncaster and Steve Cotterill at Shrewsbury have both got off to a poor start as has Paul Cook at Ipswich so could these be candidates? Any thoughts from you guys?

Bowyer at Salford I’m guessing will be under pressure if results don’t start to improve .

I never understood the clamour for Wellens to be honest.
Nigel Adkins at Charlton would appear to be under a bit of pressure looking at the results but my mate believes this is just a blip and they've not been playing badly.

Not sure there was that much of a “ clamour” for Wellens tbh. I think he was mooted as a candidate along with KJ, Robinson, Ardley and a couple of other individuals and did at least have some degree of success on his CV.

At a slightly more elevated level, it seems that all is not well at Nottingham Forest where Chris Hughton and his side have got off to an awful start. Another couple of poor showings after the international break and that might be the tipping point?

Hughton has gone. Shame, as he always came across as a gent Maybe, but I think it’s hard to disagree that change was needed (see extract of article from “ The Athletic” below) and that Wilder - if he is the eventual replacement - counts as an improvement. “ Forest had just lost 1-0 to Stoke City without registering a single shot on target. Their fans had turned on Hughton. With the dressing-room door locked, Hughton began the inquest into another defeat.
“Clueless,” was the verdict of one first-team player, in a series of leaked WhatsApp messages seen by The Athletic. Hughton’s attempts to lift morale had not worked. “Comes in after the game and says we were brilliant until the goal,” read one message. “We had no f***ing shots.”
The player’s verdict was that it was, in the bluntest terms, “a shower of s***”. So bad, in fact, that he wanted to leave. The tactics were “the defenders and midfield bypass everyone and just boot the ball back to their keeper or the 6ft 6ins centre-half.”Now that Forest have become the first to pull the trigger, I wouldn’t be surprised a couple more clubs follow suit after Saturday’s results are in🤔

Surprised Hughton lasted that long.Forest have a very demanding board.A club living on a glorious past. With the great Brian Clough as manager they won almost everything. We have a link with Forest via Frank Clarke out and Ian Bowyer.A pity Brian could not control his drink problem.Up there with the best managers ever. What a joy he was to the game.

Another flawed Diamond Brian Clough brilliant manager imo. Was able to get the best out of wayward players other managers wanted to get rid of. He controlled the young Roy Keane which must have been difficult. An old ex pro who played for Notts County heard through the grapevine that the players dreaded the sound of CLoughs metal blakey's on his shoe heals vibrating down the corridor after a bad result before he entered the dressing room. On a lighter note Clough was a keen Cricketer and encouraged cricket matches between Forest and County players during the close season I am reliable informed. That tradition I would suspect has now long gone.

Gillingham had only 16% possession at home to Milton Keynes so maybe a certain weight-challenged gaffer could be heading for the door.

Gillingham had only 16% possession at home to Milton Keynes so maybe a certain weight-challenged gaffer could be heading for the door. Now that Hughton has been given the elbow, there are three or four potential candidates in the frame and Evans might well be one. Latest tip for the chop seems to be Nigel Adkins at Charlton. Fans reacted badly to today’s defeat apparently.
