Bristol rovers' media guy referred to us as "not one of the bigger clubs in league two" as he was interviewing Barton after today's game. If that's how Rovers' board sees us and in view of how we trounced them, maybe jovial Joe will also be on his way by Monday.
Except for the Becchetti effect, I don't recall looking upwards at Bristol Rovers' status over the past 58 years. I do recall them being homeless, playing at a pub team 'stadium' and generally bouncing along in the lower reaches of the football hierachy.

Let’s face it, in terms of recent history ( ie last 25 / 30 years or so ) we have not been out of the bottom two divisions nor with one exception , ever really looked like getting back into the top two. Plus with Hearn in charge and his “ little Leyton Orient “ mantra and then the Becchetti disaster and a recent spell out of the EFL I can see how others view us as “ not one of the bigger clubs in League two”. This season will hopefully be the start of a revival to get us back ultimately to a more elevated position in the League hierarchy.

In truth fisch we are one of the smaller clubs .Easily the smallest in London with the smallest crowds ,always was ,always will be . If Rovers get their act together they would be consistently bringing in 10000 crowds.

It may be annoying to be regarded as a minor player in League 2 but, even as an O's fan, if you've only followed football for five years or so you wouldn't think any different. Being of a certain age I essentially see us as a Championship (old Div. 2) club, although we generally had our work cut out to stay there. I've noticed that many (perhaps most) people on this board see our "rightful place" as League 1 because that's how they remember us.

Gillingham had only 16% possession at home to Milton Keynes so maybe a certain weight-challenged gaffer could be heading for the door. Now that Hughton has been given the elbow, there are three or four potential candidates in the frame and Evans might well be one. Latest tip for the chop seems to be Nigel Adkins at Charlton. Fans reacted badly to today’s defeat apparently. Evans for Forest? never in a million years

No mate, Evans as ( one of three or four others) a candidate for the chop!😁

Always believed others considered us as also rans.So good when you beat them.In truth we have always punched above our weight. The 70s even more so,nearly got to division 1.Bring em back!

I think in the next 6 years if we can be buzzing around the top half of league one and flirting with promotion then I believe that Nigel and Kent can consider that job done.
Not that I'd want them to leave at that point!
I believe the next step from there would be for sustainability and stability in those higher reaches.
Who knows maybe an assault on the Championship at one point like Wycombe, Luton, Doncaster have done previously. But the gap from League One to Championship is huge.

As we have seen many times with promotion winning teams, they do look special and the climb up the leagues leaves no surprise.Maybe, just maybe, this time it will be the O's. Orient in the championship 23/24 and Ashes winners in 21/22 and 2023 and I can shoot through a happy man.

National League has its second victim of the season. Harry Kewell gets the “Spanish archer” at Barnet . Probably too many ex O’s on their books!🤔

John Still doing anything? Last reports I read he was standing down as Director of Football at Maidstone. It might be time for Mad Dog Allen to make his seasonal appearance at the Bees. He's got a reputation but in my book the Bees could do a lot worse than him. Probably got too much baggage and previous at Barnet to be reinstated.

Never heard the term "Spanish archer".Sound good,I will file it away for future reference if I knew what it means and why. It was used ( amongst many others) during the making of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet by Gary Holton who played Wayne the Chippie who commented on people getting the "el bow" off the building site by the Germans. Hence you get Spanish archer from (El Bow)
