Picked up my copy of the revamped 'They Took The Lead' along with many others at the club, Steve once again has done an excellent and very proffessional job, looking forward to almost 200 of us all going to Arras in June. Was speaking to the author of the play 'They Took The Lead' ,he tells me it's very possible that this is about to be turned into a tv drama, however unbelievably the BBC told him they were interested and that it was a great story but they would like to change the club involved to Arsenal, in order to help overseas sales.Thankfully Michael said a firm no, it's disrespectful to the players who died to pretend that they were in fact playing for a different club altogether ,also they felt that only three of the 41 players and staff dying wasn't high enough and could he kill a few more for dramatic effect, once again he said no,he also reminded them of the horrific injuries many suffered, the keeper lost his sight in one eye, Nolan Evans suffered a horrific injury to his leg , Gibson another player to wounded to play again etc.BBC are well out of order ,bloody can we be Arsenal! Anyway something will become of this story so well done to Steve and Michael for getting this great story to a wider world.
