You are probably correct. To say most is possibly a little extreme but I would also say it's not a minority either. We need to address the elephant in the room. Abuse, racism, homophobia etc are all growing trends in football. None of which are being addressed by football. I wouldn't take my kids to a game of football nowadays. It's a sad admission but it's true. Why would I Subject my children to a game where they can sit and watch a game and two seats away hear abuse to a manager or player that they wouldn't hear at any other sport. You only have to look at social media and every discussion about football where two people support two different teams and it turns into a slagging match and offers for fights. Look at this forum where a certain individual twice offered to 'knock my block off'. So is it a minority.... I don't think it is anymore. I could name off the top of my head at least three things that football should hang it's head in shame about that is not discussed at any level that fans should be talking about but they don't so there is an agenda from fans and the powers in football. It's becoming toxic from every angle. Football is in a privileged place if you wanted change to happen in this world then football is the perfect platform for that to happen. Do they..... nope. I appreciate your view jimbo and agree that the type of abuse levelled at players and managers (and even refs !) at top volume by some individuals is way out of line. Facebook/ instagram etc are not things in which I participate so have no first hand experience to relate. Speaking for myself I go to a game to watch the O’s in the hope they’ll win ( or at least do well) and support them in that. I have done for 60 years now. I accept my outlook is regarded as old fashioned and narrow but I don’t go with the thought of trying to make football a platform for change to happen in the world - personally I think that should begin at a different point in the cosmos. Just my point of view of course.👍 That's fair enough. I am not saying football should be doing some political stance but more should be done with abuse, human rights, homophobia etc. All seem to have a breeding ground at football more so than anyother sport and yet its tolerated. For instance and two examples mentioned recently. Matt roper apparently spent a night talking with police about racist behaviour. That's a matter for police but its been said that he has history of shouting abuse at grounds to the opposition bench and to refs... if that was in the street it wouldn't be tolerated but in a football ground many here just sit and don't do anything. They tolerate it. The other boarder said he was shouted at when he left a few minutes early by someone saying he should clap and stay to the end... how many stood up and said something around him and stopped him from being abused... probably zero. Football is a breeding ground for hate and unfortunately as a society we tolerate it and football does nothing, we all sit there and if it happened in a street we wouldn't stand for it but at a football match it's OK. It should do more and we should do more. Footballs stance on human rights is shameful, footballs stance on homophobia is shameful, footballs stance on abuse of people providing an entertainment is shameful.

I was called a "F*ck8ng Prick" and told to "Stay and clap the team you c*&t" for leaving Stoke early at 2-0 down as I went to find my missus. Tensions are running very high at the moment it seems. Sad to see. Sorry to hear that. What absolute morons these idiots are.

The idiot at the Notts forest game that ran onto the pitch and threw a punch at the players sums up my point about fans pretty much perfectly. What will football do.... nothing I bet.

He should be jailed, or better still, chemically castrated. We can only hope dis. But I fear he will get a fine. Then he will get banned from the stadium but he will still attend away games as they can't stop him. Or he will go to games at another club like Notts County or a local team to him where he can continue to be the moron he is. I am sure his friends or people on social media are lauding him as some sort of hero.

I do feel that standards in life have slipped generally in the last 20 years.
People able to slag off others from the keyboard, hasn't helped and when you look at society in general, it seems the norm now to repeat and promote untruths and conspiracy theories, because nobody seems to be accountable anymore. The amount of anger out there is immense, and extremism in all its' forms has taken root.
I'd quite like to bring my grandson to see the O's, but I am put off by the amount of swearing there is. Nobody seems to moderate things because kids are around, which was the case when I was growing up and I really don't want to subject him to some of the things that go on at matches.

He’s going to learn to swear eventually. Might as well he learns it from the pros at Brisbane Road.

So rather than bring him along at age 7, I'll take him when he's 12 and already knows what swearing is, rather than subject him at an earlier age.
Trouble is the club might well miss out on a supporter for life as a result.
I don't regard myself as a prude, I swear, but never in front of kids. Just the way I was brought up.
How many other potential fans do we lose because we can't provide a family friendly environment at the club?

That didn't happen as they are still all there, still swearing. However, Bill I have taken my kids with me and they have season tickets and they've heard swearing and they've seen me confront the individuals as well. They don't swear and they don't confront people either as they've not been brought up to do either. As long as the kids are taught properly by their parents and family right from wrong you've got half a chance they will turn out OK. Take him along and don't deny him or he will end up supporting a plastic club in the Premier league.

I think the crux of this problem is actually policing the family stand. If you’re in there and you’re caught effing and jeffing, then you get one warning otherwise you’re out. Get booted out more than once then you’re banned from that stand. It should also be made abundantly clear that the family stand is exactly that. And that the rules will be applied stringently. If you’re not going to police the behaviour in the family stand then why have one in the first place? I met a bloke on an away trip once who proudly told me how the family stand is “the worst one in the ground” for swearing. As if that were a good thing.

I’d like to think the adults in the family stand would be able to moderate their language in front of their own children and other peoples. I’m with Buffalobill on this. Swearing in some places is understandable, though some words never are in my opinion. But I will never swear within earshot of Women and children. For me it’s personal integrity.

Would be better to have them at same price as South stand. Currently it is, £189 + £49 (phantom kid) v £305. If I was bringing a youngster, I would probably sit in East Stand where the support is less vociferous. There were quite a few kids in East stand on Saturday. Should only be able to sit in North if you bring an under 11. Or it should be split into two sections, one half childless with unreserved seating and if you don’t bring a child you sit there.

Behind the goals and around the dugout are always the worst places for anti social behaviour. I go along with what arrgee said, the East Stand (my spiritual home) is probably the best if you're bringing a youngster.

Personally I’d really like a stadium where behaviour allows parents to sit with their children in any part of the ground. But that is unlikely so where they are now is the best solution. And a Pricing structure that enables children to come is a bonus, but the phantom kids is an issue of sorts. Only a real issue when the ground is a sell out and that’s rare. So £50 for a kid who rarely turns up is still. Better than earning nothing. And you never know, they may get hooked.

Funny to see that the nasty hypocrites who run the other board are obsessed with this board. Going as far as starting entirely new threads about it (once again showing pure hypocrisy as the same person, just a couple of days day, explicitly told boarders on that place not to mention this board on another thread). Maybe the penny is finally starting to drop. Running a board with integrity, consistency and basic decency is how to attract members. lofcforum.com/forum1/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9029

Sure, but if I was so inclined, I could get an adult + phantom kid season card for £67 less than just an adult in south stand. That is not good business. It is £49 for an under 11 in all four stands.
