Are there now any competitions for reserves to play in anymore and if so would the club consider joining one. I can't help thinking that players who don't get much game time would benefit from time on the pitch in a meaningful game. Would Ruel, for instance, be better off if he had found the net a few times in reserve games.

Why is it so hard to sign a decent creative midfield player and does Martin agree we look better playing 442 with Archibald playing further forward?

Just how difficult was the recent January window in terms of signing the players that we wanted?

Nigel Travers quote from article in London Football Scene -
“What I’m going to say when I talk to Kenny today is ‘What can we do to help you?’ ‘Are there any free agents out there that we can bring in to help the team?’ ‘What are you doing to change things?’”
Are there many free agents available at the moment that would be suitable to the positions we need to strengthen?

In the days when all clubs had a reserve team I used to really enjoy going to watch Orient reserves, usually on alternate Saturdays when the first team was playing away. Admission was minimal and it was an opportunity to watch up and coming players, as well as players returning from injury. There were "stars" from top clubs who played against Orient reserves.

Fully agree with every word you wrote, in fact I could have written that comment myself. Yes my dad and me sometimes went to the reserve games in the mid1960s and used to enjoy seeing up and coming young players plus as you wrote "stars" from Orient and top clubs who were returning from injury'' It was fun picki8ng out the young players you thought had something about them, then watching with interest if and when when they made the first team. If we had lived nearer, we would have gone and watched mostly all of the reserves games, I live at Harlow. Favourite young players I watched come through the reserves include Harry Gregory and Terry Brisley !

Generally all questions about central midfield.
Players that we missed out on in January: I have it on good authority that we lost out on these midfielders that Kenny wanted. Can you confirm that we were in for them? If not, why weren't they on our list as they would all be upgrades on our current midfield. George Lapslie (Mansfield) Ben Thompson (Gillingham) Jon Nolan (Bristol Rovers) Matthew Longstaff (Mansfield) George Maris (Mansfield) Anthony Evans (Bristol Rovers)
Dan Crowley: Nigel mentioned that we lost a player that joined a Dutch Premier League team. This is obviously Dan Crowley who left Cheltenham and joined Willem II.
Dan Crowley is an attacking midfielder and the likes of Coleman and Brown are defensive midfielders. This indicates that we were in the market for an attacking midfielder but ultimately having sold Kemp we now have none. So what was the purpose of looking to sign an experienced attacking midfielder and ending up with two inexperienced defensive ones?
Immediate requirements vs Future needs vs Ebou Adams: Brown and Coleman seem good signings for the future, but what about this seasons needs? With Clay injured and no real enforcer in the middle of the pitch were we in for this type of midfielder? Like a Steve Dawson / Romain Vincelot / Ebou Adams type of warrior that can get from box-to-box and drag us up the pitch.
It's no coincidence that Forest Green have gone from strength to strength with him in the team and he is regarded as one of the best central midfielders in the league, both drawing and committing most tackles. He's clearly the no nonsense all action type of midfielder we need also at a good age. Do you feel like he's the one that got away? Are you aware of anyone with similar attributes that could do a job for us?
Omotoye / Young Player Loans: What is the point in these type of loans. I'm all for getting decent loan players in but signing Omotoye just kept Ruel out the team for a while and blocked the pathway to the first-team for a few players. Occasionally you do get a decent player like Mitchell but it's rare and hardly worth the punt. Archibald and Ray are older and have the experience so that makes sense, but the young inexperienced ones seem pointless.
Having players on a list for each position: Why did we struggle to bring in players of the calibre of James and Clay that are ready and experienced for this league when they got injured? If we really have got lists of players then it shouldn't really be too difficult to look down your list and find one that is available either immediately on loan or permanently. If they're on the list and we've been tracking them then there shouldn't be much risk as they're good enough for the list.
What Kenny actually wanted: How many players did we lose out on that Kenny wanted due to either financial restraints from the club or player demands?
Tom James / Archibald contracts: Any news on tying these players up for next season?

Now that the window has closed will the transfer committee be retrospectively looking at its performance? We talk about league one ready players, but we’ve signed players that are quite clearly not yet ready for league two let alone league one. We also seemed to go into panic mode towards the end of the window. Will your approach change tack as to keep doing the same thing will not yield different results. We knew for example that James was out for a long time yet his replacement should have been the priority yet we still had to wait weeks for Moss.
Secondly Kenny has said several times now we have a lack of experience / we have a more like u23 team which seems to diverge from what Nigel says. Why did we provide the manager with said players, this suggests they were not what the manager wanted and deflection is in play. What was the thought process then if the committee is steering on field matters in a different direction to what the manager wants or needs.

Some really good stuff there. If some of that gets discussed it will be a good program.
