Something that strikes at the heart an abandoned football stadium,a place where dreams died and never got over the rainbow. A very good in depth news article here all about the history of Leyton FC.
LEYTON FC: THE STORY OF AN EXTINCT CLUB THAT STRANGELY STILL EXISTS… FOR NOW June 5, 2022 For 130 years – from their formation in 1881 to 2011 – Leyton Orient were not the only team in Leyton. Just a 20-minute walk from their Brisbane Road ground, up Oliver Road and Church Road, lay the 4,000-capacity home of their E10 neighbours: Leyton FC.
Despite being abandoned well over a decade ago, it’s still there. Sure, the terraces are rapidly being colonised by Japanese knotweed, and the west stand has become a fridge graveyard, but the Leyton Stadium – previously known as the Hare & Hounds, after the pub next to it – remains intact. And amazingly, you can stroll straight inside.

I remember that stadium. Used to watch both Leyton and Leytonstone (Granleigh Road, near the High Road station) when Orient were playing away. I think FC Leytonstone play in a Sunday league?

Lofc search for a new training ground must of completed a feasibility study in this old land area ?
Chigwell may be a more pleasant countryside but this ground would get serious subsidies from the council to rebuild

The old (and built over) Leytonstone ground had a larger capacity (over 10000) than current Brisbane Road

Only watched one game at Leyton,a regular at Leytonstone as a workmate played for them as an extra interest as well as visiting all the local non league teams of those days.I still like watching non league football and prefer the National league game on BT rather than the Premier League game on Sky.Love the effort the non-paid staff put into those teams.

My mate was playing for Wingate when David Platt was in his glory and they filmed an advert there and the players were paid to be in the commercial.
Platt turned up and they told him what they wanted and the finish was an overhead kick and the target was just bigger than the ball. My mate said he did it first time and everytime it was reshoot for whatever reason. My mate he was quality!

My 'Crowning Glory' came on that ground when I played in an amateur cup final there. The game went to penalties and I foolishly volunteered for the last penalty. With the scoreline standing at 5-4 on penalties you can guess the rest 🙈

We went down 4-1 at the H&H around 1973, never been back since.

Sad to see what was the Hare and Hounds in such a bad state, watched many a game there as a kid and scored probably my best goal (left foot volley - top corner) there albeit in a friendly.
I remember watching games there on a Sunday morning in the Leyton and District league and they used to get 1000 to 1500 on a regular basis which was more that Leyton FC got at the time. The club was poorly managed and there was some unseemly going on's and disputes with ownership. Very sad to see a club with such a great history fall apart.
