Like many of you, I’m interested in the oppositions take on a game. (fans and club). My view of our performance (based on the broadcast) was for much of the game, bar the last 30, Carlisle seemed to want it more. Our performance not up to much. poor passes, poor crossing, no shots on target bar the penalty, very few shots off target, lethargic, second best in the tackles. Supported by the match stats when looking at possession and shots on/off target at that time.
Most managers post-match comments are for home consumption of course and RW is no different. He uses them to give players confidence and generate crowd involvement. Smart management straight out of the text book. And it works.
But the Carlisle manager saw things differently. Maybe affected by the result, but he laid it out for his players and their lack of mental toughness and so on. Got to say I like the guy. Their fans forum too, listening to commentary, were not too complementary of their performance.
Maybe just a poor game all round. Maybe commentary, as good as ours is, doesn’t reflect the whole picture.
This type of thing is a mirror image of fans views of the same game and even the same incident. Fascinating how so many people see and hear things very differently.

If we weren't good for most of the game then Carlisle fans are probably doubly disappointed that they couldn't take advantage. We've also been on the wrong end of a few such games this season.

Pompey will be doubly disappointed having lost to Chesterfield 1-0. Didn’t see that coming. Paul Cook not keen on a good cup run ironically, want to get back into the league. But I’m sure he is delighted really.

Fascinating how so many people see and hear things very differently. If they put the full match replay on the website try watching it as a Carlisle fan. It's really hard to do, I've tried it once or twice before. Edit: Weirdly enough I was watching bits on and off of Chesterfield v Pompey and I found out after the game finished that I got the teams the wrong way round. Pompey play in blue, right. I've just remembered Chesterfield do as well. What a coincidence after I wrote the top line.
