One of the maddest games of football I've ever seen. Spurs started well but then channelled their inner Orient having various players sent off or injured.

Kuseleveki score for Spurs Son goal ruled offside Sterling scores, disallowed Udogi two footed lunge, only a yellow Romero does a Beckham on a Chelsea player, no card Caicedo equalises Ruled out for offside but VAR checks a Romero two footed tackle in the box VAR says penalty chelsea and red card Romero Palmer equalises with penalty James Maddison and Van der Ven both go off injured 12 minutes first half injury time Udogie fouls Sterling, second yellow and sent off Spurs down to nine men with reserve right back and Eric Dier as central defenders now Spurs play insane high line pressing from the halfway line but chelsea can't find a goal Chelsea finally score through Jackson Spurs still attack and Eric Dier scores an amazing volley but ruled offside after long long VAR check Chelsea have a narrow lead but Spurs still come forward and Son has a good shot saved. Chelsea go up the other end and make it 3-1 through Jackson again Spurs almost score again 9 minutes injury time 96th minutes or so Chelsea wrap it up with a Jackson hattrick Despite losing 4-1 Spurs fans stay to cheer their team off Bonkers match

I thought double jeopardy was brought in to stop a team conceding a penalty and having a player sent off. Did that really happen?

It certainly was. Even I managed to stay awake for it. The final score doesn’t really do the match justice, great for the viewers, absolutely bonkers match.

The religious devotion to the high line by Postecoglou even down to nine men is fascinating. It’s fun to watch innovators at work.

Ange is receiving plenty of praise from the media here but at the end of the day his team lost the match with those tactics. Apparently he did the same with Celtic and won most games but the EPL is a big step up from Scottish football, maybe he needs to be a bit more flexible

Let’s see how it plays out. He may be completely wrong, and you’re likely right that he has to adapt, but he is a man of conviction is rare these days, and it’s interesting to watch him work. I don’t care about Tottenham, but I’ll pay attention to them now just to see what happens.

I thought double jeopardy was brought in to stop a team conceding a penalty and having a player sent off. Did that really happen? No. Romero was sent off for a dangerous tackle, not denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, so it's still a red.
