Four years later than the appointment was made and of course four years older which at my time of life is a very long time as it is the biggest change since my first days of life to four years old.I will have an appointment at WX in regard to my knee,I expect nothing and will get nothing other than a shrug of the shoulders and be signed back to my GP after six years. It is said knee problem that will prevent me from the walks that were part of my life and going to my Orient on matchday.I am becoming A stay at home as pain hurts.

What is the issue. Knee replacement surgery isn’t a 4 year wait is it? Know of two done much quicker. Less than half that time. Whatever it is I wish you well

My computer chair height adjuster thing broke a while ago and the seat is now too low, It isn't ideal but I've got used to it. Since breaking my arm/shoulder I can't get out of the chair using both hands so I've been mainly using my knees. Now my left knee hurts slightly but not too bad but my right knee has become very painful and I'm concerned that I've damaged it. Have you tried any sports supports for your knees, redshank? A long time ago my dad had a knee problem so I bought him such a support from the sports shop opposite the O's ground and I believed it helped. Your response will no doubt be 'Of course I've tried one of those', but I don' know that.

Whatever it is I wish you well I have had replacements in both knees, the first went so well and I recovered in three months which encouraged me to have the left knee replacement in August 2017,I have had problems in walking and pain since. A subsequent replacement is very dangerous and could compound the situation,It could also turn out well but the recovery time could be three years or more with excruciating pain that would require long term use of Oxycontin,That is what I have to consider before said appointment. What should he do everybody, take the money or open the (box) knee.

What should he do everybody, take the money or open the (box) knee. You have my sympathy. My brother-in-law had a knee replacement a few years back. The operation was a success but the replacement part was too big. He now suffers constant pain but not to a level that stops him getting about. Manageable. And it was a lot better than before the op so a move in the right direction. He could have corrective surgery but won’t. I guess like you risk is greater. So he decided to stick, not twist. Luck of the draw I guess. I had a hip replacement 14 years ago. Not as bad as a knee but a similar recovery time. It had a lifespan of 10-12 years so I’m lucky that thus far it shows no sighs of failure. Though a lifetime of muscle strengthening exercise down the gym and non-impact exercise helps. I really don’t fancy a new one. Tough decision Redshank. All you can do is listen to the options from the specialist, but no doubt the decision will be yours. Good luck.

I used to wear some neoprene knee pads with a hole at the knee, very uncomfortable to wear. Now I wear elasticated knee supports, mainly to keep my knees warm as the cold especially at the O's gets through to the metal parts and the walk home is awful.Even in bed later they take a long time to warm up.Suggest you give them a try as they are not expensive, anything that supports the knees help.

How goes the decision making process Redshank? Nothing or total replacement which I read can be life threatening with a long recovery time. The best thing is to consider any other option than a knee replacement especially if you like to lead an active life. What I believed would enhance my lifestyle has done just the opposite.I don't think the technology of replacement is as good as they think it is.AI procedures may give a different outcome and six years is a long time in medical advancement as a trip to the dentist will show. If I decide on a replacement I will have to consider the burden on Mrs redshank who cannot drive and will do more that what is needed to help in the recovery.

Had the appointment saw the registrar within two minutes of sitting down, sent for an X-Ray in a new area, sat down half an hour with a gown on and trousers off very similar to Cool to Hand Lukes one night in the box.Had the X-Ray went back to the registrar who said no change come back in 1 year. Better than being discharged back to the GP,as the waiting lists are so long.

Did he not offer any ideas, suggestions or was it just being brushed off. Not too sure I’d be impressed.

Said nothing, did not try to move my knees on the couch,I had little chance to talk about the problem. It was as I expected,I will carry on as usual and have an appointment at the pain clinic in May.It will be my first visit there as all other appointments have been over the phone, but I must add the pain consultant did listen for more than 30 minutes and the letters forwarded to me and my unknown GP said all that I had told him which tells he did listen and has helped with what was given as a pain killer. Both mild forms of drugs of other conditions which have their consequences if taken daily,so it is one night of taking then three or four days without. What a life, but more fortunate than so many poor souls.

Now that's the kind of drinking I like, be nice to appreciate a good guzzle together one day.
