Just a couple of thoughts . Does anyone else wonder why ,with all our USA connections we never get any promising youths from America . Or indeed any players from the US that would want to gain experience from playing here . The other thought is we just don’t seem to get the kids through from the youths like we used to . Orient used to be famous for it .

Playing the long game, l understand it is pointless to encourage non UK citizens of youth because they cannot get a work permit in the UK unless they are already internationals. We couldn't sell such youth system graduates to bigger clubs for that reason. I used to assist my nephew by doing a bit of scouting in my region for him in his job in the prem, that all fell apart when Brexit came along.

Fisch is right. We now aren't allowed to sign Europeans unless they're fully fledged internationals and we can't sign anyone from the US.

Whatever, no one looks to be banging on the door for a place in the squad. However, we do have about eight players currently out on loan so maybe there is some talent there.

I actually think it’s performing really well, the trouble is the big clubs come along and Nick them off us. The clubs aim is to get to a category 2 academy which will allow us to keep more of he promising youngsters, but not all of them. Hence the need for a new training ground which will have better facilities. If we get to the championship with a cat 2 status then we will really have a great chance to keep all the kids as they have great training, facilities and the opportunity of championship football. Like ramrod said we have about 8 out on loan at present, when did that ever happen previously? It’s quite exciting to be honest and hopefully some of her will make the breakthrough to the first team. Ling and the club are doing something right!

Anyone decent is picked up by the bigger clubs in an instant. We have second or third choice, but they can bloom just as much as the first choice can wilt.Decent players arrive from all club backgrounds.Yesterday I saw that Posh picked up another non league player but I am sure they have a bigger pot than we do.We do our best and do reasonably well within our limits.

As I reported earlier on the Forum, as per their official Website Posh have 7 Area managers and 71 part time scouts covering the East Midlands and East Anglia looking at players at all levels. According to the O's Blog on scouting O's have 4 management level and 5-6 part time scouts. There is no way O's are going to compete against an operation that the Posh have in place. Posh are also competing against Norwich City who are advertising to recruit part time scouts in Peterborough's scouting area. Someone at the Canaries wants a piece of the Posh's pie as regard the pool of young and non league talent Posh recruit.

I’m not expecting too much activity in January. Decent business before the season started, good enough for a mid-table finish which is fine. But I’d like to end the January period at least as strong as when it started.
Thus far we have let Cooper go so weaker as a squad. I expect an incoming loan to balance things out.

There is possibly at least a couple of reasons, the number of years in championship and league one plus there are no other league teams near them ( Northampton and Stevenage being the closest).

With a focus on the youth system "conveyor belt", I am aware of at least one of the women's youth team who trains at Spurs where she enjoys facilities far superior to that of our men's EFL1 side. If you were the parent of a promising youth footballer, it would be a simple choice as to which club you'd want your kid to attend. I'm guessing our system is pretty much starved of the pick of the local youngsters.

Hard to see anything more than a couple of incoming loans deals being done unless, by some chance, we’re able to unload a fringe player or two. Quite noticeable that there is little to no information from the club that even hints at movement so things are being played close to the chest by the DoF & his colleagues. By the way, nice to see you back contributing to the Forum once more. Up the O’s!👍

I'd like a bit of Posh Pie 🥧 I'd settle for common crumpet.
