Three match touch line ban for Wellens from the FA and a £2k fine. Tbh I’m slightly surprised it wasn’t worse. Can he watch from the stand do you know? Only with a set of binoculars!😄. The answer is yes - it’s a “ touchline ban” only.👍

Exactly. Their wimp ref couldn't control the behaviour on the pitch and Ritchie had to try and put it right. Ban that ref for three games. This is a sceptic route to glassing in the managers. What you say worries me. If in your opinion a referee has a poor game, the coaching staff of both sides have the right, even the duty to take matters into their own hands and take action. That is just so wrong. i was at the game and Galbraith was consistently stealing massive yardage. Even the lenient referee sent him back once. The opposition did no more than we did. We also nicked massive yardage and position at free kicks to gave advantage. All teams try and take quick free kicks from the wrong place to take advantage and sometimes get away with it. Happens every game. It will vs Carlisle today. Being blunt it is cheating. It was more to do with the state of the game, Bolton pushing on, us wanting to waste time. Game management, used to be called time wasting. We love it when winning by the odd goal, hate it when others do it. Ironically the referee at Reading was pedantic very often, insisting kicks and throws be taken at roughly the right place. Plenty of calls in our enclosure for him to let the game flow and stop being fussy. Referees can never win. When it’s us, great. When it’s the opposition, it’s wrong. When the ball is in play it’s fair. Wasting time when not in play is cheating. A habit officials have clamped down on a lot this season. Good! Different officials have different views. They are people. All we can hope for is consistency, the Bolton referee was. He wanted the game to flow. A couple of times Beckles got away with tackles that many times he wouldn’t. But that’s ok! It favoured us! Not the Bolton fans in the South though. if you think refereeing a game is easy, give it a try. Many fans, players and even professionals don’t even know the laws. Our lot don’t by their own admission. And they criticise the officials! Good answer Dohnut. I do still feel it was unlucky to be termed a grab when it looked to me like a tap. I thought there was an element of accident about it too. As you say, we're all human and being referee wouldn't be my preference.

Dohnut is right in principle of course and seeing refs running away from would-be attackers is horrible. However, I'm sure RW "admitted" his error in the spirit of plea bargaining and still got a grand fine and touchline ban. The balance is not right because the suits have no personal stake in the outcome.

All we can hope for is consistency, the Bolton referee was. He wanted the game to flow. Doh, I mostly agree with you apart from this. Never in my life have I seen a less consistent refereeing performance. He seemed to change his approach to the game every 10 minutes. There were periods of the game where he let everything flow and periods where he let nothing flow. After he sent Richie off, he stopped the player from taking another 15 yard run up, and then let him start doing it again. Absolutely baffling.

But as I understand it coaches should remain in the technical area, not looked this up so could be wrong, if that was the case then he should not be within touching distance of the player nor colliding with the linesman like he did at Reading. At Reading he even encroached onto the field of play! That is just so wrong. Love his enthusiasm but not his lack of personal control. Rubs off on the players. Second bottom of the discipline table. Not hard to see why. The suits as they are very unfairly described must take a view and without passion and bias. Cold hard look. This is not wrong. It is the only way the system can work.

With all due respect dohnut, I’m surprised you thought Wellens would get away with a one match ban. He had already served a two game ban and been fined £1.5k back in September following the after match slanging match with the ref @ Wycombe. He also has “ previous” with both Doncaster and Swindon when he was in charge there. The FA don’t forget these things. As I said elsewhere, I was pleasantly surprised he got away with only three games this time around.👍

Agree with Red, I thought he'd get 4 games so he's had a result really.

His card is marked and any more ill discipline won't be tolerated, neither should the fans tolerate it. I like his bite but he's our manager and is key to our success. We can't afford for him to be missing from our dugout each game as it can only be a hindrance.

I'm quite calm about it, whereas lots of fans on here are not which is fair enough. I'm sitting on the fence of passion, commitment, desire and will to win. I know these carracteristicts tend to get you in trouble, but I prefer them to a wilting wallflower any day of the week.

Important traits of ambitious people and quite frankly not limited to those managing a football team. But when you reach a level of seniority self discipline needs to be added to that list. OK we all understand the odd transgression, we are all human. But not repeated poor behaviour. its quite insulting to believe managers who don’t get into trouble lack passion etc, of course they do. But they also have sufficient self control to ensure their behaviour doesn’t rub off on those they manage. We have the second worse disciplinary record in league 1. We are not an over physical team. Wonder why.

Dohnut, cards are dished out like sweets these days. We had 5 or 6 today yet nothing dirty happened did it? Its a different game today than even 10 years ago let alone back in the 80's so you have to look at the reasons. I don't see a problem with this team and the laws, have we even had a player banned for cards yet? Don't think we have yet we have the second most in the league.
I say carry on and let's have it with anyone who wants it.

I dont care that RW gets animated in the dugout. I dont care that he gives the officials an ear full. I dont care that he stopped a player taking a throw from the wrong position. I want that in a manager.

We picked up four cards for nothing offences yesterday, no nasty lunges. How do people think RW's absence from the dugout affected yesterday's performance? I thought we were at times a little more nervous than usual.
