Given his previous history, I would imagine the FA are gearing up to throw the book at Wellens this time around.

Think they will make an example of him. 3 game touchline ban plus a fine.

Not too sure his post match comments have done him any favours. But a word in his shell like and 1 game should be enough.

Be interesting to see the outcome. His defence of course will the the continued transgressions of Bolton ( ignoring Galbraith did the same) but the fact they were trying to gain serious advantage at a critical time, and not for the first time, in a tight match and something he could reasonably expect the referee to control.
Dont make what he did right nor the red card wrong. But a mitigating factor. His post match comments about doing it again don’t help.
1 match, a warning and a fine should be sufficient. Hope so. He is a positive influence during games. Even if his example is not.

Three match touch line ban for Wellens from the FA and a £2k fine. Tbh I’m slightly surprised it wasn’t worse.

Shame. His influence during games will be missed. Not surprised about the fine but 3 matches seems harsh to me. Hopefully he will learn to curb his enthusiasm in future.

The suits always screw up anything with excitement and passion in it. Richie can't do it because they have their collective boot on his throat - but I can.
Sod off to your safe carpet slipper antiseptic semi in Purley and leave us alone with our passion, noise, commitment and emotion. Don't change Richie, be who you are and thumb your nose at the wet blankets.

Correct ban from the authority ,he should know better and therefore set a better example to his players.

Is he banned from talking to the press during his period of abject penitence and genuflection?

Don't change Richie, be who you are and thumb your nose at the wet blankets. Could not disagree more. Passion is a great thing but must be controlled. If not where does it end. is it OK to chase a referee in a moment of rage brought on by passion, or elbow a player, or swear at officials. Passion is understandable, even crimes of passion are understood. But it don’t make it right. It’s a slippery path to let things go even when it’s understandable. Standards must be maintained. The FA are absolutely right, no question. RW grabbed a player. That was wrong, No ifs or buts it was wrong. He admitted it too. Listen to his comments. Love the guy but he needs to have better self control. I watched Richie at the Reading game. Constantly out of the technical area and was told to go back. A few minutes later out he was again. On the touch line, encroaching on the pitch during play, that’s not on! At one point the linesman collided with him when running the line. Thats not on either. Dont bollock the FA for trying to maintain standards.

Ban that ref for three games. This is a sceptic route to glassing in the managers.

Ban that ref for three games. This is a sceptic route to glassing in the managers. What you say worries me. If in your opinion a referee has a poor game, the coaching staff of both sides have the right, even the duty to take matters into their own hands and take action. That is just so wrong. i was at the game and Galbraith was consistently stealing massive yardage. Even the lenient referee sent him back once. The opposition did no more than we did. We also nicked massive yardage and position at free kicks to gave advantage. All teams try and take quick free kicks from the wrong place to take advantage and sometimes get away with it. Happens every game. It will vs Carlisle today. Being blunt it is cheating. It was more to do with the state of the game, Bolton pushing on, us wanting to waste time. Game management, used to be called time wasting. We love it when winning by the odd goal, hate it when others do it. Ironically the referee at Reading was pedantic very often, insisting kicks and throws be taken at roughly the right place. Plenty of calls in our enclosure for him to let the game flow and stop being fussy. Referees can never win. When it’s us, great. When it’s the opposition, it’s wrong. When the ball is in play it’s fair. Wasting time when not in play is cheating. A habit officials have clamped down on a lot this season. Good! Different officials have different views. They are people. All we can hope for is consistency, the Bolton referee was. He wanted the game to flow. A couple of times Beckles got away with tackles that many times he wouldn’t. But that’s ok! It favoured us! Not the Bolton fans in the South though. if you think refereeing a game is easy, give it a try. Many fans, players and even professionals don’t even know the laws. Our lot don’t by their own admission. And they criticise the officials!
