Won't the EFL block a move to the hockey ground as we are moving into West Hams "space"? But didn't they move into our "space" what is it 700 odd yards as the crow flies? Hearn said it would kill our attendances, guess he was wrong there as under T&T they have increased year on year. We have to bold, we have to have ambition and as more money comes in to the championship via the new TV deal it becomes a little easier to bridge that gap. A new stadium will bring in further revenue the only issue and its a big one is player greed and club greed to grab out to something which is within grasp yet so far away in reality. Luton did it in a sensible way, there's no reason others can't follow that pathway.

Does anyone know what kind of attendances they get at the hockey club? I'm not keen on the idea of us muscling in on their stadium unless it makes sense for them to downgrade. That doesn't seem very community minded to me (he says from Germany).
There appears to be another hockey pitch next door with no stands, but space to build a new stadium. I don't know if there's scope to develop that, whether for us or the hockey club, but I assume the board have already considered this. I also wonder if the hockey attendances might benefit from having Orient as neighbours. Catching some hockey while still high from a glorious O's victory sounds like quite a fun day out to me!

Stadium sharing is no big deal. Providing the pitch can cope. Plan fixtures accordingly. But with much of the structure already there, costing £30million at the time, that’s a massive financial saving over starting a stadium from scratch. Always felt the sense in that was huge. Already capable of up to 15,000. More than enough for us now, erecting roofing in the main cost. Other facilities will be in place already and probably modern. I wonder just how much it’s used for big hockey matches, probably crowds of 3,000 at most. The hockey people may not like it but it’s community facility paid for by taxpayers and football is a bigger community asset than hockey. Sharing, why not?

Hockey is played on AstroTurf, not grass anymore. Got to solve that problem first.

Hockey is played on AstroTurf, not grass anymore. Got to solve that problem first. Good point that. Wonder if the current pitch we use and in the premier would be an acceptable surface. Otherwise as you say could be a deal breaker. Or. Move hockey to the space alongside the current stadium, lay astroturf, create viewing areas capable of holding the 3000 people who watch on a regular basis. Allow the background amenities to be shared, like changing rooms and so on. Has to be a better use of taxpayer funded facilities. The needs of the 8000 outweighing the needs of the fewer. And that’s 8000 and growing. UK athletics lost out to football and still ply their trade at Crystal Palace despite the Olympic Stadium being suitable.

Hockey is played on AstroTurf, not grass anymore. Got to solve that problem first. With the amount of inclement weather of late and EFL lower league cancellations, I think 4G pitches may be a necessity. I was always against artificial turf in the past but the cost of properly maintaining a grass or hybrid pitch, with adequate drainage, must be beyond the reach financially of some lower league clubs. The Scottish leagues allow artificial pitches because of the more severe weather they get. The rest of the UK seems to be experiencing the same swings in weather conditions. I know my Grandson level is nowhere near EFL level, but he played recently at a pro club training ground with a i think a 4G facility. It had been raining but the game went ahead.

My team has played on 4g when all the grasses patches at our ground were underwater and we have good drainage as well. However, professional players do not like the surfaces as its not normal in the way it plays. It's the best it's been since astro was invented but its not grass if you follow my meaning.

Doesn't Brizzy road come under Waltham Forest and the Hockey pitch ,like the O S come under Newham Council ?

Hadn't realised the proposal was to share it. Fair enough then.
