Obviously physical and mental capabilities aside, if you practice at something is it possible that you can get worse at something?
I can't think of a single thing that you would get worse at if you were practicing something.

You definitely can. Progress is rarely a straight line. For example, you could unintentionally reinforce bad habits, especially if you're frustrated or progressing with poor form/technique. Gamers even have a term for when you start getting worse at a game through overplaying it: "on tilt". It means you need to take a break.

Snooker.
I was listening to Hendry the other day talking about O'Sullivan and he said what he is doing is amazing. To be that great and winning at his age is unreal. He was asked could he compete and he said no as he is not capable of playing to that standard any longer as it leaves you. He didn't expand on it, but I'm guessing eye sight and concentration may be the defining reasons cos it can't be physical.
Golf is similar you get players that dominate like Faldo and club players could probably beat him yet in his day he was the best in the world. Other players of his level all go through the same periods they dominate the majors etc then suddenly they are mortal once more after 5 or more years of dominance.

Yes, I believe so.
There used to be an old saying 'Practice Makes Perfect', but it actually doesn't, 'Practice Makes Permanent'. If you are continually using the wrong technique, you will never improve.

When l hear recording of what l could do in the 80s.... π Never been any good, that is why I am in awe and forever thankful for those musicians who probably gave up a normal childhood to practise practise,it needs a hell of a discipline and we get the benefit listening to all types of music. On the piano a favourite is Yuhang Wang.

In relation to getting worse with more practise there are a number of football managers who, after some initial success seem to go backwards. This may be partly due to moving to a "bigger" job rather than getting worse per se.
