I've always rated him as a talisman type of influential player, l still do... Here comes the "but"...
Why does he feel the need to swan around as if he were Beckenbauer? He isn't and we don't need that anyway. It's as though he would be embarrassed to display the kind of intensity and enthusiasm we see in Galbraith and, dare l say it, in Ed Turns too.
More intensity Omar, more energy, more vocality and more active support to the midfielders when we are moving forward.
Am I ranting?

Probably likes sitting in the comfortable executive chair drinking good quality Colombian rather than being out on the training pitch being barked at by the Coaching staff. 🍵

You could see how angry he was with himself..Just too much faffing around then becoming unaware.Every now and then it’s not a bad thing to Pune the ball up field..So many people could sense a fcuk up and it duly came

He is what he is, and I am fine with that (I see he made some mistakes in the last two matches that led to goals). However, if he was a player that never made mistakes, he would of has a career in the highest division. He tries hard and he tries his best that is very obvious.
I must take this opportunity that I do not think it's fair that RW makes negative criticism naming players in his post-match interview. Cooper and Beckles were named. OK we all saw there endless passing sideways which RW mentioned. We saw the bad pass. He should of just kicked it out and then closed or blocked that big lump that scored.
Releasing Ed and the current injury to Happe to me does not mean the current two Beckles and Copper were playing at a 10% or any % below their ability because there is no competition - RW subjective % comments are not consistent with his managerial ability or his intelligence.Â

I got fed up sitting here in the middle of the night too watching us lose three points which would have meant beating Blackpool and or Oxford we would be odds on to be near the play off positions and with still many games to go a fantastic opportunity to get there.

If Beccles could replicate the performance he gave at Cambridge Utd in the New year, I think no one would have any complaints. Its consistency that is lacking. On his day he is a very commanding figure. Ithink the loss of Happe is a telling factor, where when both were playing together they formed a commanding partnership.

I don’t think Beckles has any pretensions to be “ another Bobby Moore” but he does have issues around his levels of awareness/ concentration. He’s never played above L1 in a long career for good reason and yesterday was a prime example of why. In an ideal world he would be a back up centre back and nothing more for the O’s but it’s not an ideal world unfortunately!🫤

So annoying that a good player like him is letting himself and the team down time and again by this very same short coming.

So when RW says about the sideways passing its costing us the ability to move quickly through the thirds, finding spaces which will let's us create chances. Our slow play and it all starts at the back cost us again and again yesterday the ability to attack at speed. Think about what you saw yesterday and this happened 30 times I'd guess. Beccles takes a pass from Cooper on his back foot which is the correct way to take the ball he looms to go outside, checks back and moves it back to Cooper. We've gone nowhere, done nothing and we end up where we started, that happened again and again all game and it was doing my nut in! So I get RW being annoyed with it and rightly so in my opinion. Still we go again and hopefully the rocket they must have got yesterday will sharpen them up once more. A great chance yesterday to close the gap to the play offs as well.

I agree the sideways repetition was too much by far and very annoying - I don’t know why they did that to the extent they did. RW is a proper coach but I don’t like his public criticism that is all - other manager’s do not seem to do that ie naming players in a negative way in a post match interview and tbh with a small squad I do not think it is wise do that it’s not inspiring - RW is aiming for the top as a manager - he has to really be more diplomatic or economical in his post match interviews RW from the north of England and his using that as a reason to justify that character attribute is not adequate justification .

I agree that he came back in well this year. At the start of the season though he was as bad as he is now, and that was with Happe. He's not the only player who made several poor passes yesterday. Despite an excellent all round performance El Miz kicked the ball to opponents several times, though he most often chased and won it back. Galbraith did it, Forde did it. Beckles unfortunately was severely punished for it; the goal, the destruction of morale and the sinking defeat. I felt sorry for him.

That ain't happening, not from what I seen this season and spells and all. I’d like him t stay with us too. But I do wonder why his concentration levels drop off alarmingly sometimes. When he is good he is very good and a few of his performances since a shaky start have been excellent. But his levels of concentration drop, sometimes we get away with it and sometimes we don’t. Saturday we didn’t. That is not acceptable for a professional sportsman, well not to the level he sometimes shows. Is his mind 100% focussed? Not the odd lapse. Hardly generates confidence in those around him. Let’s hope Saturday he is back to the Omar we know and love.

Interestingly I was irritated by our poor passing in the first half yet our passing accuracy was apparently 90%.

Passing was extremely accurate, direct to our opponents.

Indeed. Despite his often good performances, it is a flaw that has been in his game throughout his time with us and resurfaces too often for a centre back who is a regular starter imho. Possibly next season we will be in a position to improve personnel in that position and not have to be dependent upon Beckles as a first choice?
