Here are the thoughts of Richie who has sung the priases of Pompeys Jan windows signings. I wonder if he's still bitter about our business?

He probably is s bit miffed as he knows if wd had a fully fit squad we'd definitely be in the mix.But at the moment wd can't compete with the big hitters in this league spending wise but if he keeps this squad together and adds a couple we'll be challenging next season

Yeah, the play off tilt talk seems to have waned post Burton with an acceptance that we will be battling for it next season..

His point about the head start the top clubs had over us because of injuries at the beginning of the season shows how close we’ve been since.

Sensible talk from RW. We might not win this one, which will knock us out of the playoff fight. Never mind. Good comments about the squad. I wonder if we might struggle with injuries persistently because that is not necessarily an "experience" thing. Our players would really battle hard and put their all into playing the big sides. The size and calibre of the squad would be the thing that governs the quality of side you put out week after week and at times when you're playing Saturdays and Tuesdays.
Can we realistically compete over 46 matches with the likes of Forest, Brum, Sunderland, Middlesborough, etc, etc.
It's a great ambition though and worth going for.

I think we will be able to compete as lime RW said the team and players will have had a year of experience at this level. At times we've not disgraced ourselves and even when Pompey whacked 4 passed us they didn't really deserve it as we gave them soft goals.
With the right additions and upgrades in the summer we will hopefully be better positioned to kick on in this league.
What this season has shown me, is we were with a full squad capable of getting out of this league this season. However, that statement is tempered with not getting injuries or suspensions! So reality is we are where we are.
We are not far away, yet we are so far. Enjoying it so far and disappointing results like last week have been few and far between. The future is looking good.

If we beat Oxford then the optimism before the Burton defeat will be re established
Then it’s game on and we can still do it because our-current form is better than most other teams

I'd like to agree but not having Theo, Dan A, Dan H, Jordan G and with a frail Sanders means we should be fighting at the bottom end somewhere
