Loved watching Stan play, a big character in a sea of characters playing football in his time . RIP.

I had my picture taken with him when I was a mascot. He had the best left foot I've seen in an Orient Player. His passes to Chidders were unreal.
He lived his life the way he wanted.
RIP.

Probably the most talented player I’ve ever seen in an O’s shirt tbh. RIP Stan.

Before my time, but everyone you speak to says what a quality player he was. RIP Stan. Same here, but I remember having three copies of his sticker for my footie album back in the early seventies. He wore blue and white hoops for some reason. RIP.

Surprised he was 75 , only seems like yesterday I watched him snd his amazing ball control. Stan had been suffering with Alzheimer's Disease for the just over the last 8 years.

Remember in particular a game I think against Oldham were kicking towards the Windsor rd end when Stanley the great, inside our half tight on the right wing in our half collected the ball and took it past one, jinked left past another then a third before passing the ball into the right corner… I can play it in my mind as though it were yesterday…RIP Stan

As a small kid I took penalties and I'd watch Stan point to the keeper where he was going to put it, then put it exactly where he said and the keeper could do nothing to stop him.
I decided I couldn't do that and just smashed it!
To do what he did was unbelievable skill. The man was a magician and if he'd have been born 10/15 years later he'd have 100 caps for England.

Another thing I saw was Stan coming out the ground in his kit and running towards the high road. I said to my dad "where is he going?" He said "to put a bet on" when the teams came out he was he last one out a little behind the rest of the team!
A true maverick.

Stan was one of the best inside forwards to play for the orient even though he was past his peak when he joined us from qpr. As stated chedozie wouldn’t have to freak his stride as stan could hit the ball so it dropped into his path over his shoulder. Thanks for the memories stan , R I P

Really enjoyed watching Stan as an O. He was electric in the 4-0 win over Preston North End in 80/81.
The club obit says he played during 80/81 but he also played 8 games in 81/82 before joining Brentford in October. We started that season with an 'experienced' team (to deploy a euphemism). Several of the players were older than the manager.
