I don’t see any conflation. I see two discussions being conducted concurrently. Most of us are probably equally unqualified to make a judgement in either. But that’s what we do.

Those hypocrites on the other message board make me sick, they probably haven't got a clean DBS between them but are always quick to point the finger. They'd like to hang Jack Simpson if they could

Listen to Omar Beccles interview on the O’s website. He had the opportunity to chat with Simpson before the club made the decision and he was happy for the guy to be given a second chance. Great interview and Imar shows why he is a leader both on and off the pitch. Now that OB has had his say then l will follow his lead.

Personally I think it’s inconceivable that the club would have taken this action if Omar wasn’t on board with it

Looking into Simpsons eyes, so much remorse he almost looks like a broken man. I want him to recover, rebuild his life

I don't know exactly what Simpson did but if Omar is cool with it, that means a lot to me. He makes the excellent point that if you don't give people a second chance you are siding with cancel culture.

Looking into Simpsons eyes, so much remorse he almost looks like a broken man. I want him to recover, rebuild his life It looks that way to me too. I'm sure he's learnt from this, self inflicted, lesson and will become a better person for it. He now needs to integrate into the team just as any other player would without glaring eyes. BTW, it's the first time I've heard Omar speak. What a well spoken, articulate man. I can see why he has that FA role. And he's right about this ridiculous cancel culture.

I've watched the video and I studied his eyes, truth always resides there. On top of this his body language also spoke massively. I do believe he was being genuine in what he said, he knows what he did doesn't meet the standards of society and he paid the price with his job, living and life. What he did was wrong of that there is no doubt, but like others have said everyone deserves a second chance. I know this as I've actually put that into practice in a work environment.
A man who worked for me hadn't had much luck and at times found life hard, I gave him an opportunity and he repaid my faith and belief in him as a person. He was estranged from his ex partner and kids which was hard with having no money and being in a bedsit with 3 young children. After a year of working, receiving a pay rise and bonus he asked for a weeks holiday where he was taking his 3 kids to Spain, having not left the country for something like 10 years. No problem, until he came back to England and was arrested at Gatwick, taken to a Police Station, taken to court on the Monday and sent to prison. He had been arrested for drink driving 8 years earlier and thought that he had completed his hours of work in the community, it turns out he had about 20 to go. His sister reached out to me, was open and honest and fully expected me to fire him. I didn't and we gave him a chance to rebuild his life and start again. He was greatful and he went from strength to strength. Now he has a wife, a house with a mortgage a great job earning good money and he's happy in life. What would have happened if I had said no? Didn't give him that chance to atone for his sins? He served his prison sentence and life moves on for the better of him and his family.
It is easier to wipe your hands of a situation rather than try to help and support people. The club have been brave in doing this and as we know our owners have demonstrated a very high level of emphathy and I'm sure they will help him to grow from this negative and maybe some work in the community would work well?
We all deserve a second chance and an opportunity to learn from our mistakes, we are but human afterall.

Good man Thor. Doing good is rewarding on its on, and certainly the man you helped is much better off for it, but the ripple effect of kindness and decency can be profound. Who knows who else benefits from this act of kindness?
