If you sold everything you had, gave up everything you owned, lived in a bedsit and put it all in a business then you might understand. I understand more than you realise. I gave up everything, gave up a steady job, took a manual labourers job for a few years to help fund my private education in computer technology without the guarantee of a career at the end of it. Failure would have meant a big debt and no job. My son has put everything on the line to start his businesses, both my brothers-in-law did the same. As did my daughter, if you think you are unique, think again. I understand. And I admire. I’ve had my own business too. But realised early on that I’m a corporate type of person and switched. Different people have different approaches. Each carry their own risks and rewards. Ever helped negotiate multi-million pound a year contracts ? Ever had a £40m deal resting on your shoulders? Ever had the pressures of all those jobs that can be affected if you screw up! It’s one thing to put your future on the line. Many of us have done it one way or another. It’s another world to feel the responsibility for so many others.

Doughnuts AKA “last word”. Time to take a sabbatical. (Long one please). After you. Show me how it’s done.

Of course he is a winner and I’ve never said anything different. Pleased to have him as manager and for a long time to come. Dont mean I have to like everything he does or agree with everything he says. Only lemmings do that. And that is not nor ever will be a description that will be aimed at me. You do your thing and I’ll do mine. But you do seem to be complaining a lot about him lately. It is what it is, personally I wouldn’t change anything about him as it’s what gives him an edge. Maybe it’s time to move on, you’ve made you point many times, you have raised some valid points and it’s probably best to close this particular one down. Not a lot of complaining Thor. In fact I think we have a great manager and I hope he stays for a long time. He certainly has his strengths and his passion is great to see. Mostly My only complaints have been his lack of self discipline, and how that rubs off onto the players, especially the kids, and his lack of tact when talking. Reds cards are testament to my first complaint and being told off by NT testament to my second. What happens is that people defend these traits and I just cannot resist the discussion. But I agree. Time to let it go.

Good result, maybe the FA saw the referee (plus doughnuts) were wrong. Now, how does a "crowd fund" start to pay towards the fine? I am sure 2400 fans would donate a quid. I'm not donating. He earns a damn sight more than me. I can't afford it.

He isnt the second coming but its his passion, that burning thing that only those that have it, get it and recognise it, that is the difference between him being average and being a winner and leader of men. I get it. I SEE it. I run businesses and have done for years. Some people wanna work for a firm and take no risks. Some of us burn for the risk. Its called passion, but then you probably wouldnt understand that sort of thing…. Right again watfordo.

If you sold everything you had, gave up everything you owned, lived in a bedsit and put it all in a business then you might understand. That takes some balls to do. True entrepreneur, slightly crazy as well and I hope you won. Not many people can do what you did and I give credit to you as taking risks and fighting for what you believe in as it is not in most peoples d.n.a. Getting up, going to work picking up your pay packet is, live and repeat, it’s comfortable. To live on The edge like you must have is scary, exciting, worrying, joyful, painful and rewarding when it goes well its truly putting your balls on the line never knowing what the future holds. If you like Thatcher or not she said “you are the backbone of this country” and she was right, it builds countries, communities, provides employment and so on. good luck on your journey, keep banging away, stay true to your beliefs and keep winning.

In the manner described by Watfordo, we borrowed the value of our home to invest in our tiny business ( mostly stock) in 1995. We were too old to get a new mortgage if it all went (.)(.) up so we'd be homeless and broke. It focuses the mind but the stress takes a toll.

It went quite well and took about 4 years to get it repaid. Daughter and her husband did something similar but with spectacular results which removed the need for our business, which is nice 🙂. I still miss the cut and thrust of it but the grey matter isn't up to it these days.

Happy for him to do it again, if he wants. Let’s not try to castrate a winner. I’m sure there are plenty of winners who don’t rack up 3 reds from the technical area in a season. He won’t do it again. I wouldn’t be too certain about that tbh!😆

The refs report would form part of the decision making process and he may have said in hindsight he should have issued him a yellow instead. The usual sensible comment from Thor.Be good for morale which we have in bundles with RW on the touchline.Enjoyed his chat midweek which gave me a fresh outlook on what a manager does.A man for all seasons.

A neighbour in his eighties was thinking of opening an art shop(selling paintings) in Woodford. His French wife Zouzou worked as a perfumier in Fortnum&Masons well into her eighties. No longer with us but a lovely couple and was good fun when the French grandchildren visited every summer.
