chance is still there but point gaps are starting to open now so i think its a long shot Indeed, as I said earlier in this thread imo it will require a points tally from the remaining games of at least 22 points (probably 23 or even 24 when you factor in goal difference) and in accumulating the necessary points will have to include taking 3 points from Stevenage and 3 points from Lincoln, Derby will be an extremely hard nut to crack as they are chasing down automatic promotion as are Peterborough, the 5 teams that we have to play that are below us in the league there's no guarantee (no s*** Sherlock) we will pick up the maximum 15 points from those games. It is still mathematically possible and I haven't factored in Bolton, Barnsley, Oxford & Blackpool because we have played those teams twice so whatever they do is out of our hands and it is still in our own hands for us to reach the play offs, I think Portsmouth are nailed on top two. I'm not trying to bring negativity to the table but it is an enormous task to get 22 or 23 - 24 points from a possible 27, having said that if we do finish in a play off spot we will certainly be going into them with plenty of momentum. UP THE O's!

I am very pleased to have got where we are after our injuries and difficult opening fixtures.Still clinging on with the hope of a play off place.A nice win against a good Stevenage side would bring joy.Good to have a protagonist until Southend get back to our level.

After beating Blackpool, it seemed like Orient were more likely, yet tonight, Blackpool are 7th, 1 point off play off places, whilst Os are 6 points adrift.

Shrimpers win tonight. Their 10 point deduction robbing them of a playoff spot. Shame, a decent club and definitely EFL level. Would be amazed if they don’t make it next season. Looking good for Chesterfield.

Looking good for Chesterfield. I’m sure you’re a closet Southend fan, you’re always commenting on them. However, let’s look at the facts you state. the ten point deduction is robbing them of a play off place. Please explain how they are being robbed? They broke the laws and there’s a penalty for doing so. The fact is that are not being robbed others are being robbed by them not paying their bills in a timely manner which is actually law of the land. definitely EFL level. Really? Cos I’m sure they are in the national league as they deserve to be there on merit, their performance has deemed them not good enough to be a league team. They will still be a non league side next year so definitely not an EFL level club. You are where you are and deserve to be. Take those rose tinted spectacles off as they are definitely blurring your vision.

Os currently 33/1 on sky bet to get top 6 worth £10 I suspect Os will run out of games to leapfrog Oxford. Goal difference means Os have to gain 6 points,so Oxford have to lose 2 or draw 3. As it stands... 6 Oxford Utd 39 18 9 12 10 63 7 Lincoln City 39 16 13 10 23 61 8 Stevenage 38 17 10 11 11 61 9 Blackpool 39 17 9 13 15 60 10 Leyton Orient 39 16 10 13 0 58

Think the B Rovers and P Vale games now look to be the ones that could've cost us in the run in. We have two weeks off to get a little recharge in. Then 7 games where you never know, hopeful we can go unbeaten but probably needing to win 5 of them to stand chance

Due to goal difference I'm of the opinion that nothing less than 5 wins and two draws will be required including taking 3 points of off Lincoln and even then....

Hope replaced despair after our shock of how we started the season.Sometimes better to creep up and not be Horatius.

Hope replaced despair after our shock of how we started the season.Sometimes better to creep up and not be Horatius. Exactly. A good position gained this year. Promise of an exciting season 24/25. We couldn't really have wished for more from this season. Even the enticement of playoffs have taken our season into the last few games. I bet most of us are happy with that.

We are far superior to Lincoln and I fully expect 3 points. Peterborough didn't impress me when we played them previously so I would expect a good, fair and decent game and hopefully we will have enough to previal.

We are far superior to Lincoln and I fully expect 3 points. Based on what? Skubala is doing a fantastic job there, rounded his team off nicely in the January window, and currently has them looking like one of the strongest teams in the league, if not the best. They haven't lost since New Year's Day. I think we can beat any team in this league on our day, but "far superior" to them we are definitely not.

I was referencing our first game with them, where we played some of our best football this season and gave them the roundarohnd for large parts of the game. The second game (replayed) they were not good and we were totally flat.
