Hear the thoughts of Richie on the poor performance of last night.

Spot on with his Ruel comments. He massively improved us. Piggott was almost anonymous. He doesnt seem to suit our style at all.

I unlike most others on this forum thought piggott did quite well
He linked others and showed more energy than he had previously - he has good close control and is not clumsy - I know he will be acceptable to most if he gets one decent break of luck and then people will see him in a more positive light.
Lofc would not if signed him if they had thought he was not suitable for our style as our style when we signed him is the same as it is now and there has been no change of coaching staff either.

Ditto. Nothing I have seen makes me think he is anything other than a good player. Rarely wasted a ball last night which is more than I can say about Cooper whose passing was awful. We pumped high balls out to wings which were either too long, high or short. Again to many cross field passes and the midfield anonymous.

The other point the long high diagonal balls to the wing mean simply the longer the distance combined with the height where it has to drop gives the oposition a longer time to focus on the receiving lofc member
I like it very much when they switch play from one side to another but it has to be achieved with either balls hit harder and lower in order they reach the receiving player quicker

I watched him first half and he tried to hold up the ball but was constantly fouled with little reward. He reminds me of Smith. Second half he was closer to where we were sitting and he just couldnt get in the game and was rightly pulled. Im not saying he is a poor player or isnt trying. I am saying that I cant see how he suits our style of play.
