Off to watch Andover New Street in the Wessex Premier. Their first season at that level and they are doing OK. Mid-table. Pitch water logs easily so no guarantee the game will be on of course.

TNT are going on National League week-end,much to their credit.I am all in favour of non league, watched hundreds of games over the years in many different grounds,From Dulwich Hamlet to the Spotted Dog et al.Most enjoyable game was Billericay v Braintree Town and Leytonstone v Billericay. My sort of boss played for Leytonstone a fellow worker for Billericay at each other like wild dogs. Both excellent players, one ex Brentford the other offered professional terms by Bournemouth(declined)

Hopefully better than seeing my local Wessex league team lose at home to a team 3rd from bottom despite being in front with 30 minutes to play. Really open game and on the balance of play the result could have gone either way. But Andover New Street have developed the habit of getting into good forward positions out wide and choosing to pass backwards. Even with plenty of players in and around the box. The opposition were far more direct and on the day, direct football won. Still I enjoy watching football so no complaints from me. They will survive their first season in the premier league.

Never a downgrade when you take in a non league game is it.I love the effort the players put into it despite having day jobs. Not forgetting the officials either learning their trade.
