This contract decision has certainly taken its time. Maybe it was put on hold when we looked to have a chance of going up.

Be good to get the RW contract sorted. Having a good manager tied down as far as possible will help in player contract negotiations. Richie’s stock will be very high and I’ve little doubt bigger clubs will have him on their radar.
Bigger clubs with bigger budgets willing to pay him big bucks. So why would RW be in any hurry? He is smart, talented, charismatic and ambitious. And successful. Done a great job for us but I’d be surprised if his eyes were not on bigger things than us. Loving the club is fine, loving the board is fine, but it don’t buy security for his family and all the trimmings that go with life up the food chain. But moving up is also a risk, staying less so.
Interesting situation for lower league clubs. As soon as talent emerges, the bigger clubs take interest.

As is ,was, and forever shall be.Loyalty to one club went long ago, nowadays a very mercenary sport. Is it better this way,in some ways yes because there is always the excitement of new talent at the club. But on the other side of the equation is losing someone who gave so much to the club aka Vigs.Means a lot more pressure on the scouts DoF and all involved in looking for and signing new players. With a club like ours it gives youngsters a chance with the added bonus of a moving on fee.So good when one of our own makes it.

RW has had his fingers burnt at Salford and Doncaster so I doubt he would consider any old club that cannot prove a good board and probably solvency. That rules out a lot of clubs for him, I feel.

You must remember RW has had several other jobs ,not all successful and all in the lower leagues . Russ tried that one !
