Is it just me, but did Kent seem slightly irritated by questions over his commitment to orient? He’s too polite to express it openly, but I thought I picked up on something. Could be I’m imagining things.

Could be I’m imagining things. It wouldn't surprise me if he is irritated. I haven't listened to the podcast and I'm sure the questions were put respectfully, but if you're a guy who has put a great deal of time and money, not to say personal commitment, into an enterprise and people keep asking you if you're committed, how do you feel about that?

On that basis, we are at year 7 and therefore it seemed a fair question to ask. Personally, I don't think he was annoyed by the question. I thought he was on good form and answered everything put to him. If you haven't listened, KT is on between 15 minutes in and 50 mins, so a 35 min interview.

I can understand such questions cross the 'touchy-feely' line but the 7 year itch is a well established shelf life in business. Our family business has done exactly that since it started in the 1990s. Look for an ailing setup, get it cheap before it fails, put in the controls, investment and management needed to build it - then sell. People who do this tend not to be good at "running" a business so they move on to the next project and leave others more suitable to take over. Kent will know exactly why the question was asked and he'll have no concerns about it. I'd guess that Kent is a natural builder of enterprises and Nigel is a natural 'runner'. That's a great partnership but it will have a shelf life.

His interview on the website <https://www.leytonorient.com/news/2024/april/19/vice-chairman-kent-teague-assesses-2023-24-season/> is very positive and benign. He comes across very well.
