I know from previous threads that there are those on this forum who are interested in weird natural phenomenon as am I. I thought I would share a bug invasion story. The Eastern and Midwestern part of the United States is undergoing a process that dates back to the Jurassic period. Bold teenage bugs are emerging from the soil after 13 years and 17 years respectively and looking for romance. They are loud, they have no sense of boundaries, and they hang out and try to look menacing and cool. I’ve heard they have been seen with tiny cigarettes dangling from their non lips. They also have punk band names like Brood XIX and Brood XII. They only make it for about a month and leave their creepy exoskeletons around and then their progeny start the cycle again. The scientists want us to eat them, and there are recipes for those interested. You can have my portion. www.cnet.com/science/cicadas-are-coming-and-so-are-the-cicada-salad-recipes/
