It occurred to me that Saturday was a game I didn't attend, when I could have done and I didn't watch it online or listen to the commentary either. Even subconsciously, I wasn't that bothered. Doh couldn't be bothered to make the round trip either. Im sure that some of us did the same.
Im told we were dire. Its easy to say the players are professionals and should turn up regardless but they are human and, even mentally, it only takes a slight dip in attitude, against a motivated team to give us the result we had on Saturday. Whilst I believe that momentum going into the next season would have been a great thing, maybe we should just give them a break for finishing in the top half, after a tough season. Overall, this season has been a success.

I did pay to watch on the stream putting money where my mouth was by paying twice effectively for the same game showing support financially in a small way if not physically on the day. And largely affected by some of our recent performances where some players seemed already on the beach. If I felt the team (all of them) were interested in playing I would have gone. But my judgement was right, too many just didn’t turn up so at least I saved myself travel costs and many hours of travel.
But it’s been a good season, top half finish. One more game and the poor loves can have a long rest unlike most of the supporters who will continue to work.

I think many of us are financially committed. Lets not ‘Doh’ this thread. Not sure the ‘poor loves’ dig is warranted.

Sorry watfordo but if I didn't do my job properly or at least to the best of my ability I would have been putting people at risk \properties at risk so I cannot see a reason why a group of well paid pros cant do better than they have been doing over the last few games . At least pretend your trying lads . Some of this attitude might be coming from the men in charge whatever ,they should do better ,the game is 90 mins long get on with it or tell the paying public that your not coming out to play today .

Maybe they'd perform better if we killed a kitten every time they lost. Something to float at the next AGM perhaps?

KTF My foresight tells me from over years of supporting to expect crap on occasions. Saturday was exactly that. But I still support the club in my very modest way as I did Saturday. The financial losers were the transport companies and not the club I love. So envious? Not in the slightest. I’ve supported this club through think and thin and despite my sometimes being peed off with what I see I continue to spend a modest amount my cash on the club and happy that is some very small way along with fellow supporters am reducing the heavy burden managed by the owners. Every pound we spend is a pound they don’t have to. Are they not deserving of that? That makes me a loyal supporter!

Possibly so, but at a pro sport level, its not possible to be 100% every game and the percentage only has to drop a little, against a well motivated team, for that to produce a poor result.

We didn’t start too badly but once again our finishing let us down. The second half we failed to produce any attacks of note and it was no surprise when fleetwoods pressure resulted in a goal. As an aside fleetwoods number 4 was probably the best opposition player I’ve seen all season. For those that didn’t attend he was like mazouni with added pace , strength and the energy to burst forward.

There is always someone that impresses within the opposition. So difficult to win a football match, probably why we feel so good after a win.

Not about 100%. That level is almost impossible. But it is about trying. It’s is about effort. It is about giving a damn. It is about the realisation that supporters who turn up or tune in have made an effort, it’s about respect for club management. And importantly it’s about being fair to other teams fighting for their league 1 existence. Integrity. Not to mention contract deals as mentioned by RW. And let’s face it, not just that one game. When you do the math, calculate how much time they spend doing their actual job every year. Surprising little. Minimal compared to the real world out there where people graft for 48 weeks a year. Footballers lead a cosseted life and are expected to work as best they can for 90 minutes or good forbid 180 minutes a week. So come match day it’s not unreasonable to see interest, irrespective of the result. Precious little of that on show as the season concludes.

Im sure, when you were running your empire, that you gave 100%. Every. Single. Day. I bet you never had outside family issues that might have hindered your performance, or been hungover, ill or just plain old tired. I bet your minions / employees / worshippers never had any issues too through fear of being verbally machine gunned with stories of prefabs, boot straps and perpetual achievement. Im pleased for you. Mere human beings do have issues and sometimes arent able to give 100%. Sorry that this seems to be a surprise for you.

You just can’t help it can you! I’m tempted to remind you of some of your posts regarding weeding out people in an organisation. Maybe they had issues too. But I won’t. Bye bye.

Bizarre 🤔 Footballers if they are professional will be training 5 days of the week, eating healthily, making sure they get reasonable rest and aren’t out partying because this could impact their performance levels, so whilst the pinnacle of the week is match day, to suggest footballers who have a short time to make a successful career are cosseted, is at our level a bit OTT.

I’d love to continue this discussion but sadly my interest has gone. Apologies. Though I would point out what NT said about making lives for players leading up to match days easier.
