Less free to air FA games.

BBC are still going to broadcast at least as many live FA Cup games than was the case in 2020/21 when the other games were on BT Sport. 14 live games including the final.  In the FA Cup’s heyday of the 1970s/1980s all you ever got was the final and the replay if it happened.  Only in 1990s was there broadcasting of the FA Cup from 3rd round onwards and then it was exclusive to Sky.  It was in early 2000s when FA Cup in earlier rounds were live and free to air.

The BBC will show two live matches from each round through to the quarter-finals, one semi-final and then the Final. The deal also provides for the BBC to have highlights and digital clips across its platforms.

ITV will take over from pay-television broadcaster BT Sport, meaning the FA Cup will be entirely free-to-air for viewers come 2021, as the BBC already has rights to the competition.
