A new goalkeeper is always the player I most look forward to seeing play.Even beats a new striker.
Mentioning striker isn't it about time we had a new name for that position.I will start the ball rolling with.Netter, best I could come up with in an instant.

Joe Wildsmith released from derby. He’ll do fine Well if he wants to come down to live in London and if Os can pay him the sort of wages he wants. Should imagine there will be plenty of clubs interested in signing him. Londons a bit of plus for a young man. The Jordan boys came down, Theo, Tom James, Galbraith, the manager… we’re not ‘a local club for local people’ plus that’s our strength because so many londoners play all over the country I’m sure they’d love to come back (thinking wiredu and Joe powell, martin ling if your reading) and we’re a great option. Aim big like we did when we got Galbraith. Jordan Graham chose us and we’re bloody happy bout that. Money budget blah blah life’s short. And it’s not our money remember!!

Jordan Archer back up goalkeeper at QPR is potentially a free agent this summer. Had previous experience with Millwall in the Championship, born in Walthamstow.

So the guy I thought Simon Royce was checking out when he was on loan at Southend, is now a free agent having been released by Stoke.
I know we have Howes, but would Blondie be an upgrade?

I'd quite like the GK who was on loan at Wrexham last season. Released by Arsenal.

Personally I wouldn't mind going with Howes. He did ok when subbing for Brynn and we'd have our own man in place then.

Howes played very well in the early season away draw to Blackpool !

TBH, we need an experienced, solid and consistent keeper and there seem to be a few like that at present who are looking for a new club to join. Howes at present seems more of a number 2 keeper for the division 1 league level.

I would also add that this season hopefully we won’t have to rely upon a loanee ‘ keeper again - ( no disrespect to Sol Brynn who was actually pretty good overall).

Time to see what Howes can do. Time to trust the opinion of our scouts. Howes about it? We have kids who, in the unlikely event, can provide backup or even dip into the emergency cover that applies to keepers.
Our budgets are limited and there must be other areas where our limited funds can be spent. Shore up the midfield, get a decent attacking full back. Oh and get a striker who knows where the goals is. All areas that reduce our reliance on a goalkeeper in the first place.
So let’s keep Howes and focus on those areas where we need to create and score goals. An area of major importance.

You're assuming the opinion of the scouts was that he should be signed as a future number 1 and not as a backup. It's also ridiculous to suggest our budget is too small to stretch to another keeper but we should sign a proven striker (likely to cost 3-5x as much) when we already have Agyei. (And as much as some people don't trust Ruel, his numbers are improving year on year.)

IMO Howes is nowhere near the quality of gk we need he's a number 2 that's it for me.The importance of a really good gk should not be underestimated. Not many teams get promoted with average keepers for their league

And he’s had his moments in games, but I agree good and bad. We already had keepers capable of filling in as a number 2 before he joined. My assumption being the aim was to develop him for a year then give him his chance. If the club don’t see him as first team quality then they will bring in someone better.

Not sure about that. Howes had a good game away at Blackpool, but nothing else. We really need someone solid at the back because this season is going to be a tough, especially looking at those teams coming into the league replacing the poor teams leaving at the bottom end. We've a good solid group of central defenders who will need a good solid keeper they can trust behind them. He's good for second choice.
