Happe vs Simpson for that left-sided CB position? Great news - and for me , that’s a no contest . I think Dan is hands down the best defender at the club. Perm any one from three ( Beckles, Cooper , Simpson) to play alongside DH.👍

Looking strong at CB now that Dan has re-signed.

Im pleased Dan has signed, but im a little concerned he's become injury prone.
last 2 seasons he's has a major injury, missing approx half the season each time
I hope the lad can go through the whole of next season, and stay fit throughout

Horses for courses regards wing backs.if we get two very fit full backs as wellens wants,we can play that way sometimes. Now we have play off quality with four CB's to choose from. Next up an exp loudmouth goalie please.

Next up an exp loudmouth goalie please. Problem there is most of our goals come from attacking wingers so we lose that. Also, play it too often and you're risking injury to an extra centre back with one fewer backup. I think it's just too different from Richie's preferred system and we can't afford to sustain a big enough squad to make it work unless used very sparingly.

I think James would suit that role, but we've no one on the left to do the same. I'd rather we stick with proper wingers and take the game to the opposition.

We need to vary tactics.wellens loves his 4-2-3-1 with the 3 pressing. But teams know this. That's why we lose at home so much.opponents coaches say keep it tight and orient will make errors and give us a goal.

We do need to vary tactics but I don't see how going five at the back helps us break down deep defences. It's generally a counterattacking system. Not always, of course, but we saw last season how it takes the sting out of our wing play. It won't help us score more goals and it won't help us stop giving them away at set pieces.

It wouldn't be five at the back at home as opponents retreat so our wing backs get forward. So a diamond of four in midfield and one out n out striker.three at the back. Obviously 4-2-3-1 as main but wellens must adjust at times to get us top 6 imo
