They’ll be fine, they do this every 6 months But it isn't the club this time, not directly anyway.

I get upset when any club goes to the wall. That I have family who until recently were regular season ticket holders at Roots Hall makes it a little more upsetting. I am aware of the amazing amount of work done behind the scenes to help save the club (some have short memories of our past!) and the absolutely amazing season so few players have achieved against massive odds makes this even more sad. So yes, if they fold I will be upset. There but for the grace of God and the input of Travis and Teague go us. I’m a true football fan. Seems some are not.

Then your anger and disappointment should be aimed at Martin who has and is holding the club and others to ransom once more. He is always playing brinkmanship.

Then your anger and disappointment should be aimed at Martin who has and is holding the club and others to ransom once more. He is always playing brinkmanship. Had a chat with my nephew, who has been active in trying to keep the club alive. All a bit frustrating. The buyers have the money, have the desire and have already invested money to keep the club going. But there are limits to their patience and money. Contracts have been exchanged, I wonder if conditions are attached, but it seems it’s the Council now who are procrastinating. Who knows what’s going on. So many people have done so much to keep a decent and well supported club alive. They deserve better. They also deserve the support from fans who know what it feels like to see their club close to oblivion. As a supporter of Orient I want us to be able to lord it over our once rivals. As a football fan I’m gutted when this sort of thing happens,

It's to do with the property he wants to build at fossets Farm.

It's to do with the property he wants to build at fossets Farm. And the myriad of companies involved in the development, some owned by the Martin family. Ron Martin has relinquished any direct interest in Southend United but without the housing development happening the sale cannot be finalised, leaving the potential buyers with the task of financing a football club they still don't own and may never own. Whilst the new potential owners have input money to get the club out of the s*** they were in, preventing closure, they are not too keen for that to continue indefinitely. A crap situation. I dare say Martin has no interest in the club or its future. A bargaining chip to get the housing deal he wants, the council won’t play ball. If the club closes, Martin will blame the Coincil.

Why would the council want to embroil itself into such a convoluted multi-company setup. If they want to built housing then I see little advantage in buying into something well beyond the skills of your average councillor who also has the responsibility to use public taxes wisely. It looks bad for the Shrimpers.

It looks bad for the Shrimpers. Have to say it does. Close to extinction several times, the euphoria of a potential new owner now this. The biggest roller-coaster in Southend. Can they have yet another 11th hour miracle? I hope so. A real shame for the fans who continued to support in big numbers and the team who, despite being 12/13 strong for a very long time and a 10 point deduction still managed to flirt with the playoffs.

So pleased they're in the s*** again, vile club why can't they just die. I do wonder if the same was said by some about us when the mad Italian was in charge. Don't really understand that attitude and don’t really want to. Not one I’d subscribe to about any football club.

All fans of all clubs should stand together. It's so important that the right and proper director tests need to be more robust to stop people abusing a community asset.
I do recall Kent saying owners should put up a bond of 2 years money I think he said. That would separate the men from the boys as one example of improvement that could be made.
I don't know if anyone from Loft are on here, but they were doing some good work back in the day, but I guess burrocrocy gets in the way. If they could share some recent insights that would be great.

I only found this out recently but Luton (out of all clubs) had a collection for us when we were "in the sh***" We got some great comments from supporters of other clubs at the time. I also know a few made poor comments but they were in the minority based on my recollections. Just my opinion but those who chose to rubbish us were not football fans. We may oppose on match days and I would not have it any other way. Should we play Southend I’d want us to give them a proper good hiding. But I want them to survive.

I wonder if Blackrock are involved somewhere.Hope Southend survive,we have had that worry ourselves and it was not nice.We need to get that old rivalry up and running. I have said it before that Southend United could easily become a championship club if run by the right people. So much potential for a good club in that area
