Amongst the mourners at my brothers funeral yesterday a guest said her grandfather Arthur Murray played for Clapton Orient around 1912 at a guess.I looked up the name in references but could not find the name anywhere.
After the church service my brother left in great style to the song Good old Arsenal as he lived Arsenal.Many sang along and clapped to the rhythm of the song.But I could not let go my dislike of Arsenal and stayed silent,he would have understood what ribbing of each others club we had and I am sure he would have given one of those smiles.It certainly changed the solemn mood as we made for a pub for his wake.

Condolences redshank on your loss.
My late father came from a large family and as they grew older he said it was like 10 green bottles.
I think humour is important amongst the proceedings.
I couldnt find Murray/mayhew in my archives,I'm a big Clapton orient fan.He possibly was a trialist back in 1912.
Anyway,hope lingy signs us a real corker next week to cheer you up.
