I was quite surprised watching Trump being interviewed a couple of days ago by Dr Phil.
Prior to that interview I always thought Dr Phil was an intelligent talented person.
I turned off the interview as soon as it was evident it was like two love hearts on their first date with mutual praise gushing out of their voice boxes - their mouths were moving but I reckon it could be their rear backside hole talking the crap.
I ain’t no Republican or Democratic but I know a tax return should be completed truefully and services accurately set out. Everyone that Trumps likes seems to agree with him that is acceptable and dodge that core theme in the conversation.

I think what you describe eca is a reasonable observation and a sign of the times, both sides of the pond. In my opinion it’s quite rare to see a really objective, probing interview. A skill that is on the wane in these modern times. Tough, probing, fact-finding interviews by clued up interviewers are a rare thing.

Yes But I see some probbing questions on a few programs but the Dr was really appalling as it had obviously been pre planned the questions and answers and anyone with any sense irrespective of their political alliance could see it as a Trump platform for advertising himself where he stated clearly he had a court gag order which restricted what he could say then Dr Phil states “ well I have no gag order “ and then states precisely what Trump would of liked to say with Trump oozing thanks and agreement like a parrot.

... but the Dr was really appalling as it had obviously been pre planned .... Isn't everything we see like that now? The inexplicable existence of crypto "currency" is a direct result of a failure to ask the bleedin' obvious questions about it. Humanity seems to believe it is swimming purposefully towards the great fishing grounds yet nobody is asking "are there sharks there?" Politics, religion, pseudo science, miracle cures, homeopathy, Ayurveda, Herbalife......... we're drowning in BS.

American politics is exactly the same as professional wrestling and has been from the very beginning. Most of what we see from both parties at the top is what is called kayfabe. It’s all staged to agitate us American rubes.

What I don't get is how out of the massive US population Trump and Biden are turned out as the best candidates for the Presidency. How do you account for that?

I don’t mean to sound pretentious, and I am not, but I’m a history buff and I can’t describe this situation better than our first President in his warning about parties and money interests: “ They serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community,” George Washington said in his Farewell Address. “They are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterward the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”

The worst is that Laura Kunsburg on the BBC, hopelessly biased towards her beloved Conservative party.

Yesterday I started watching a further Dr Phil u tube.He had invited four “experts” to pass comment on his recent Trump interview.
Again it demonstrated an obvious set up biased towards promoting the integrity of the interview.
WTF is a body language “expert” that even has the audacity to interpret the interview and tell the public how Dr Phil performed with Trump to a positive outcome.
The others were equally discriminating any criticism one was a lawyer, one was a reporter and the other stooge I cannot remember.
It’s become a joke this type of program which obviously influences the thick of society.
