Charlton have sold May and already this week replaced him with Godden and Ahadme. Whilst we have still signed zilch, pre season is nearly a week old and the new players are missing out. Why do we continue to repeat the same mistake window after window. There’s a road somewhere in Leyton called “Orient Way”. Sums us up nicely. It’s what we do and I doubt any fans are really surprised. What would surprise the hell out of me is if we got a jog on and worked quickly. But we know we won’t. Don't matter a fig what RW wants or NT says. On this P and O steamship the dial only shows slow and stop. Though with recent transfer dealings we’ve discovered reverse too. It’s the Orient Way! But as ever, we live in hope.

£350k the asking price for El Miz. Too rich for us, not to mention his wages. No surprise really. We did well to get 2 seasons with him. Don’t rule out us signing him. With Ruel and Max moving on we gained some cash. If we can sell Moncur and Piggott that will pay for a lot of the cost.Orient could set up a deal with Ipswich to give them a 40-50% sell on fee. El Miz loves the club and he can get back home to Paris in no time. His parents have seen him play several times and has said he was very happy playing for Orient. Let’s hope he will return

I notice that clubs often negotiate themselves an option, completely at the club's discretion, of an extra year on the player's contract. I assume it's just in case they want to get rid but maybe get some dosh (a'la Idris). I don't recall us ever doing that.

George Dobson on his way to Wrexham. Shame, decent player and a local boy.

George Dobson on his way to Wrexham. Shame, decent player and a local boy. Charlton and Wrexham are like two finance boys on a night out snorting coke in the toilets, we're like the crackhead that walks passed the smoking area at 11pm looking for unwanted cigarette ends. Don't get me wrong our ownership group have worked wonders and really want to do things the right way but it's the reality we currently live in.

Northampton Town. Four signings in four days! Two unremarkable strikers to deputise for Hoskins and a back-up goalie by the looks of it. Callum McGeehan could be a good signing for them though.

Unremarkable strikers got a familiar ring to it. Backup keeper, well we have that, just missing a first choice, McGeehan looks good. But this time next week I’ll be able to talk about our new boys. Gonna happen

Reading between the lines of the article below it would suggest that the O’s never had a weaver’s when it came to signing George Dobson. The harsh reality of the club’s finances must be making life very difficult for Ling. therealefl.co.uk/2024/07/06/wrexham-closing-in-on-huge-statement-signing/

Quite so,a lot of money spent on ground improvements. We have to spend very wisely, but we can get by on loans.

I suspect you are right. Our owners have invested heavily but there has to be a limit to their ability/desire to stump up and cover heavy annual losses. Fair enough, they have done a huge job. Absolutely no criticism at all. Our transfer dealings thus far are modest. Two solid players out with modest replacements. Massive reliance on the existing squad plus developing kids. Despite this I still expect incoming, why else would RW mention 4/6. He will be aware of finances. And of course NT comments. Players will come in. But I would be surprised (and hugely delighted) if the incoming players are little more than cover for our core group from last season. Loans to add to the 3 already made perhaps.
