Silly money being thrown around right down the pyramid. All divisions are very difficult to be promoted from with a near normal spending pot. With that kind of money, how did they end up in L1 ?

Bristol Rovers set to spend £500k on a new striker. Jeez, looking at their incomings I doubt we will finish above them next season. Let’s hope as a squad they don’t gel. The striker they are allegedly signing for half a million from Fleetwood has 21 goals in 110 games which is a horrendous return for a position that is judge on goals.

It’s not all about big money signings, it’s how they gel as a team, so my Dad used to say. Not all about the money, but it helps. No guarantee that teams put together on the cheap will gel either.

But I suspect they see potential.

Another failure in our transfer and contract policy. Could be of interest to those chasing promotion or trying to avoid the drop. But I agree, wouldn’t a two year with a one year option have been wonderful.

Crawley complete the signing of goalkeeper Jojo Wallacott from Hibernian. The 27 year old said he was pleased at how quick it was and glad to get it done.

... wouldn’t a two year with a one year option have been wonderful. We assume the players would sign a longer deal. Clearly that would not be in the agent's interest. How long is Moncur's deal?

For sure it’s an agreements between player and club but are we to assume that most every deal we do, the agents or player hold the whip hand? There has been an increase in 3 year deals, some clubs manage to do this. Especially with players with sell on potential. That discounts Moncur, wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t ask for a 3 year deal.

Rotherham’s rotund Scotsman is at it again and has signed the exotically named Esapa Osong from Nottingham Forest. Definitely a cheap signing , he was going for Osong.! ( apologies).

There's not much wrong with our squad as it stands and RW first team eleven will be a matchfor anyone.Rw seems pretty happy in the interviews I've seen and we don't need a major overhaul IMO.Graham and Agyei will be like new signings . Let's wait to see who else comes in.I do think we've been surprised by the amount of money other teams have been splashing though but I'm more than hopeful we'll be ok

I have faith we will bring in the right players but time is running out if we are going to be at our best on the opening day.

It doesn’t matter how good we think we are, what matters is how we compare to others. Others are pushing on, we have got weaker. That is a poor situation to be in. I don’t expect us to splash the cash, thats Unreasonable. But for goodness sake let’s go into the new season with sufficient depth to cope with the busy periods, the injuries we will get, the suspensions we will get and the players whose form drops off after having to play too many games. When Richie says we need players we should listen.

So what should we do just sign anyone just so we have a big enough squad.Maybe Richie is prepared to wait for the players he wants maybe some of the players he wanted have chosen to go elsewhere.Other clubs have signed lots of players they may be decent on the other hand they maybe dross look at the clamber for us to sign Bonne last summer thank god we didn't he's completely finished as a player. As you say and I'm in agreement the players will come in and before the season starts.

Wellens has little option other than to be prepared to wait. He is not the one doing the deals. He is the one however who said very pointedly on several occasions that our last season was hampered by the “ late” arrival of players.

Why do we assume because other teams have been active they are signing dross? (We’ve had our share or haven’t you noticed). That frankly is an insult to the professionals at other clubs as well as being an excuse for us. You think we are special? Shock horror, we are not! We have experts at recruitment whilst other teams don’t? Reality check required, other teams are just as expert, just as selective, just as professional, just as good and want to get value for money. But they get on with it. We are traditional procrastinators. We know that. NT knows that. RW knows that. We all know that. But hey, let’s make excuses. It’s the Orient way. When will we be a team that doesnt dwell on excuses? Fact is many other teams have budgets, want value for money, want to recruit players that improve their squad. And get on with it. RW has been crystal clear. We are 5 player short - he said so. We need to avoid the risk of a poor start like last year by having a good preseason - he said so. We need to be quicker, NT said so. So why the mystery. The target has been set, by the club, and unless players come in in the next 24 hours we have failed our manager. Not rocket science. Still time! It may happen, hope it does. But we are now risking signing dross because we enter panic mode. Even Crawley have managed to sign a keeper quickly.
