I never welcome the new season too much, all that worrying Saturdays and some Tuesdays, also summer is on the fade and I hate winter with those damp cold dark days.Being so old the cold chills me to the marrow. But on the other hand I love watching the O's and a win gives that lovely warm glow of smugness. So roll on the new season and hope warm days will never cease as the poet John Keats put it in Ode To Autumn.

It’s quite nice having a break and focusing on other things. Like any addiction though, you go back and you’re hooked 😁

Frankly, after the eight/nine months of excitement at Brisbane Road last season, and the local club getting to the National League South semi-final, I was footballed out as the last ball was kicked. I find the Euros tiring and enjoy sitting in my garden in the evenings drinking a pint or two of beer. I have to say though that the titbits of news about the Orient, transfers, re-signings and the deviation game are starting to charge up my enthusiasm for the Bolton and Charlton games. I dusted my scarf off this morning.

I really enjoyed the ups and downs of last season, especially when we went something like 13 games unbeaten and the sense of something special was happening when we never had our best 11 out once, when the squad was thin with players yet we kept on winning. When we lost as we did you looked at it walking away thinking we should have won that one. The realisation that we were good enough to challenge for the play offs was exciting and with a bit more luck from the footballing gods it might have been so.
Now the Euro’s are on and I’ve really enjoyed watching the games, some of which have been really good, the refs have been very good by and large and with the sun shining life suddenly is brighter and more positive than the gloom of winter which never seemed to end.
As I’ve mentioned before I coach and I do need a break from that and am currently having a month off, where my batteries can recharge, where my love and desire build once more and the fire returns to drive on the improvements I’ve seen from the kids this past season. It’s tiring by the seasons end and by the time we return everything is ready to go once more!
So if Lingy can get some players through the door, the fire can be lit once more towards the O’s as this season with the right additions could be a very good one indeed.

Not England though 🚮 I got tickets for Joshua v Dubois can't wait for triple D to knock Joshua out! It will be tough for him that's for sure but after his last fight I give him credit for digging deep and pushing through. Oh and he beat Uysk as well.

Last time I had a break from football was March 2020 - May 2020 thanks to COVID. Since then it has been non-stop with Euros in 2021, the winter World Cup 2022 meaning a longer 2022/23 season and now Euros 2024. Next summer will be the first full summer break for a long time. All 8 weeks of it in June and July.

Sad isn't it when you do not enjoy the National teams style of football because of the manager.

County Championship started back in April! And the customary crowds of less than 1000 a day. Was going to watch Hampshire today but, guess what, it’s raining.

More white ball hit and giggle, plus shouty guffawing commentators on the way with the absurd 100. If it was a painting it would be a Jackson Pollock.Remember Tony Hancock in The Rebel riding a bike with paint on the wheels over a floor placed canvas.

County Championship started back in April! Was just checking Sky schedules and there are no county championship games upcoming. I think it is somewhat obsolete nowadays. There are tests against West Indies and Sri Lanka, but by the time the latter start, it will be football season again. www.skysports.com/watch/cricket-on-sky

That it will, far too much talk of franchise cricket with pound notes being wafted under the Counties noses.Read an interesting comment about the richest county in cricket,it rather deflated me.All is lost it seems.

But I doubt much interest on Sky. Looking at crowds not much interest to spectators either. Did plan to go but weather not great. Having said that, Hampshire have raced to 179/3 in 56 over so that 3 runs an over. Scintillating stuff.

Nothing else domestic. Can’t say I feel too much for London Spirit. Well not in the cricketing sense :-)
