I agree. We have to face facts; 1. It's probably harder to keep up the momentum earned in the first season. 2. Expectation is way too high. 3. The sum of the teams coming into the league is higher than the sum of those who have left. 4. We haven't got the finances that some of the other teams in this league have got, and that counts.
17th/18th would be another decent achievement. Staying up is key for the five year plan.

I’m expecting us to do no worse than last year. Having a bigger budget doesn’t always mean success. Take Charlton last season, lots of decent players but a poor team who didn’t improve until they changed their manager. We have core of players who we’ve kept who can compete at this level and our weakness is squad depth, rather than starting 11 quality. There are 10/12 teams who will be competing towards the top end, but whilst they might steamroller the weaker clubs, each of those teams will take points off of one another, so I don’t see a runaway winner. Think Wrexham will finish mid table, they need a squad makeover before they threaten in this league, same with Stockport. Rotherham have had a shed load of changes, despite Evans magic I reckon they will start slowly, before a strong finish. Birmingham? Big budget but think they may struggle to adapt to this league, and have they now got the right manager to cope with all the expectations. Odds reflect numbers of punters and so 18th is probably more down to numbers of supporters having a flutter, rather than a reflection of who is likely to win the league. I’m still optimistic. Up the O’s.

No one can say for sure how we will fair until we have finalised our squad. Once that’s done then we can think about final placing. We won’t be down at 18th with what we’ve got now, so I’m gonna wait and see who we bring in before thinking about what we will do and where we will finish.

Being a betting man I was going to put 50 quid on us winning promotion , after the transfer activity so far I'm considering putting my 50 quid on us getting relegated ☹️

18th would seem a reasonable return in view of the sheer strength of EFL1. It looks the strongest I've ever seen. Although this looks like 'no improvement' l would argue it is. A very tough league plus the loss of Ruel and Theo plus no keeper yet and a full-back vacancy. Only Sanders looks like a play-maker in the middle (assuming Galbraithe will be too deep) and he has some ground to make up in terms of fitness. Goals are going to be hard to find.

Some of the big boys in League 1 find it tough going for a few seasons even in the play offs. Those coming up will have to adjust very quickly as we found out on both of our recent promotions. At least RW is still with us and has a wise head on what we need. Perhaps the status quo for us will be another successful season.

Always find odds amusing.who actually are they to know. We were relegation certainties back in summer 1969,look what happened. Let's see once we get the vital goalie and holding midfielder deals done

Wonder if both RW & McCormack will get red carded together this season. Both fiery types!

I thought I read that he won't be in contention for a game until 2025? If so, that's as good as lost for the bulk of the new season.

We need to be realistic. Whilst we have a decent squad, even assuming a couple of new players. Compared to others in league 1 we are average. Lots of teams adding strength and we are not.
Top 8 is pie in the sky. Middle group possible but bottom end.
