Orient U16s goalkeeper Sam Roach gets the nod for England training camp...
ACADEMY goalkeeper Sam Roach will follow in the footsteps of Charlie Grainger after being invited to two-day camp with England U16s at St George’s Park on August 11 and 12 following some impressive performances.
“It’s fantastic to be called up,” Roach told the Cambridge News. “The first thing I did was tell all of my friends.
“I’ve always dreamed of playing for my country and now I’ve got the chance.
“I’ve never been to St George’s Park, but I’ve been told the facilities are amazing and I can’t wait.”
Roach follows in the footsteps of another Orient keeper Charlie Grainger, who went on several similar training camps before winning his first cap for England U18s earlier this year. Should he impress the coaches, Roach will earn a place in the squad for the annual Victory Shield tournament where England face their counterparts from, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
