It was a penalty all day long. Anywhere else on the pitch and its a foul, therefore as its in the box its a penalty.

I've watched it again, still never a penalty. Glad it was given though Studs up, didn't win the ball. I think if he'd led with his toe then the ref doesn't give it, but he led with his studs so the ref has to card him and give a foul. It was fortunate but still a pen. |

The ref agrees so that's 3 to 2! The studio official ref did not give it as did not Roy Keane. Its getting to the stage that defenders have to keep their hands and arms firmly behind their backs and try to avoid any type of tackling to win the ball when in the penalty area. Needs to just use Var for offside decisions, goal line technology is excellent and let the referee and linesmen judge the rest of the game.
Leaving aside the penalty incident, despite all the pre match hype, I thought the referee had a good game.
