No problem ,sometimes 90 min is all you need to see someone of real ability just the same when you clearly see someone with a distinct lack of ability. Less than 90min of the arsenal loanee was enough to convince me that he had nothing to offer even though he was apparently well thought of by his club.

What would make all this anxiety ease off a bit would be an update from Lingy saying we have all this under control, we have identified quality and realistic targets that we are working on.
What it looks like from the outside is that our number 1-3 targets in each critical position have been snapped up by other clubs and we are looking at who's left.
I'm not so worried about the GK position there's plenty of quality available on loan, but a good DM is hard to come but and critical to the way we play.

Mark Devlin when talking about ground improvements, on Facebook, mentioned plenty of activity on incomings.

The players leave for Spain on Sunday and we have both a smaller and weaker squad than we finished last season with. Don't be fooled by the last two results.
I've just re-read the original press release on our website and everything Lingy and Richie said we are going to lose the benefit of.
Someone needs to be having a word with themselves. This is getting stupid now.

What about ongoing negotiations by the player and his agent, the slowness of solicitors and their holidays? Its not always in our control.

The nearer to the beginning of the season, the cheaper bringing players in becomes
Players start thinking that they may not get a club, and the impending doom of unemployment dawns on them.
When a club then wants them, they are happy just to be employed and will most likely take a salary, they wouldnt have 2 months earlier
Having said that, I really hope at least 2 more come in before Sunday

To repeat what I have said before imho Travis has to take some accountability for this current anxiety. He has an unfortunate habit of saying things about the club’s activities in the transfer market especially that create an expectation that is , at best unlikely or at worst unachievable. The most recent “two or three week” timeframe he implied for “ exciting” transfers back in June, has had the effect of setting hares running and put the DoF in difficulty in terms of getting it done.

Agree also the Travis quote of exciting signings was exactly the time of season renewals. Mixed signals at the club, talk of investors incoming, new stadiums etc. Reality check we cant attract players here due to tight purse strings. Doesn't add up

Yet many other clubs from the Championship to the National League, faced with the same issues, seem to get by. That excuse just doesn’t stack up.

I don't mind business taking time, but don't set expectations! I just want us to be ready for the kick off as I can't recall a harder first 2 months to the season and we could be in trouble if we dont get our arse in gear pretty damm quick.

I wonder if we need to separate the supporter from the part owner. As a supporter he is no different to the rest of us sitting on the terraces speculating like we all do. Hope over expectation. Can any of us criticise him for doing what we all do. As an owner he has to be a tad more cautious about what he says. Sometimes the supporter in him shines through. A consequence is of course raising expectations that his DoF cannot meet. But all this waiting etc ain’t new.

In the odd case, probably. But if that was true all over no club would ever sign a player, yet they do! players too want jobs and agents too want to earn their 10%.

He is an O’s supporter in the truest sense and he has an extensive background in retail in the USA which for decades has been characterised by a combination of hype, hard sell and razzmatazz! The history of interventions go back to Embleton and the January transfer window in ‘21 when we were “ going for promotion”. He followed that up by sacking Embleton the following month. Similar situation with Jackett a year later and the infamous “ aggressive “ January transfer window after his things must improve type message. With the best will in the world the six players that were brought in then hardly stirred a great deal of enthusiasm and Brown is the only one who has established himself I’ve got a lot of time for Travis but sometimes he needs to throttle back on the sound bites.👍

I set my feelings against what the club say. Sometimes the promise of incoming numbers or quality falls short of the rhetoric. So whether it’s NT or RW, I now moderate my expectations based on past history. KJ was let down and as a consequence got fed up and wanted out. So when RW says we need 5 players and a solid preseason I hope he gets his wishes. But with 3 out and 3 in following 5 or 6 gone from last season we ain’t exactly going for it. But still time for preseason and Spain. I live in hope.
