What a great day out on Saturday and I just wanted to express my appreciation to Hearts who organized an impeccable occasion. It must have taken a lot of effort to plan and organise the March and street closures and of course the very poignant pre match ceremony. The club and its fans were very welcoming. I was with Scottish family in the Tynecastle Arms for a quick drink about an hour after the game, some of the Hearts fans saw my Orient scarf and were keen for me to sit with them and buy me a drink. I didn’t have time unfortunately as had to travel back with my own group for a family meal later but I sat and chatted with them for a few minutes and they were great.
One of my cousins had treated us to hospitality, so at the match I sat in the main stand surrounded by Hearts fans. They were top notch, as were the club staff in the lounge. Our own fans were a credit too, our numbers of supporters and all the flags looked terrific, I know the Hearts fans were impressed and I noted they applauded us at the end of the game.
I hope that we can play Hearts again in the not too distant future. I would love to welcome them to Brisbane Road, and if there is ever another chance to travel to Hearts and Edinburgh with the Os at some point, my name will be top of the list!
