Why does nanny state interfere with shirt colours? Orient have been red, white and blue down the years, I wouldn’t expect to be asked if they wanted to change. As for relocating, that is utter nonsense. I guess Orient will have to ask watchdog to move.
A Football Governance Bill will introduce an independent football regulator to ensure the financial stability of clubs across England, a plan initially proposed by the Tories but shelved after Mr Sunak called the general election.
Under the reforms, professional clubs will need to have a licence to operate. They will also need to seek permission from fans to change their home shirt colours and get the watchdog’s approval to sell their stadium or relocate.
Meanwhile, the legislation will bar clubs from joining closed-shop, breakaway or unlicensed leagues following the row over proposals to form a European “Super League”.

Relocation is obvious Milton Keynes backfired. Selling stadiums by rogue chairman is a big issue just look at Enfield fc - lost a club but gained a cinema, gym and TGI Fridays.

Well overdue. Football is being ruined by rampant corruption and greed. Fans being screwed over left, right and centre. About time the government started doing their job. Someone needs to sort it out.

Basically everything happening in the premiership. Every club that no longer exists. That bloke at Southend. Dodgy agents. The list is endless. I’m stunned that any football fan could be thinking otherwise.

Maybe a yellow and pink polka dot number, like a cross between a jockey and Mr Blobby

I’m stunned that any football fan could be thinking otherwise. The word you used was corruption, very different from incompetence, mistakes, poor judgement or stupidity. If it’s basically everything then examples of corruption as it applies to the running of football (dishonest, illegal, fraudulent), examples must be plentiful. I ask because corruption is a very serious allegation. So be surprised, I am a football fan and I think otherwise. I don’t believe either the PL nor the EFL, those running the game is full of corrupt people. I await to be convinced otherwise.

Interesting attempt to ban clubs from joining other leagues. What could they do to stop it? Making rules which cannot be supported by law is just PR and unenforceable.

I doubt they could stop teams from joining other leagues. Could apply pressures, like not entering domestic cup competitions. Not much of a threat. Or they could possibly stop players, rather than clubs. If you play elsewhere you will never be eligible to return to a club controlled by the PL but that could be a restrictive practice by law. Or to the club if you leave you will never be allowed back. Tricky

The real peeer for me this season is the sky deal, it’s gonna be horrid to follow the club at times. Our sat 3pm is not so sacrosanct now and that’s going to do my nut in. All for the money. I hope the clubs think it’s worth it.

I’m being pedantic I know, but corruption is a serious allegation and should only be made with evidence to support it. It has happened of course in the Olympic bidding process with money changing hands. Bribery. Charges were brought, cannot remember the outcome. And of course we have seen it with FIFA where from memory an official did jail time. So it goes on. I’m old enough to remember the Sheffield Wednesday betting/match fixing scandal resulting in a very long ban. Im not disputing the possibility that corruption could exist in some small way, of course it’s possible. But it’s a huge leap to say it’s happening without evidence. It’s also pretty insulting to those who work tirelessly to improve (as they see it) the game we love.

I hope the clubs think it’s worth it. Read somewhere it’s got the clubs backing and overall the club should profit £200k, could be wrong. Thats after an estimated loss of £100k streaming revenue and the loss of some seating for cameras. Im OK with the 3pm changes, but that’s me being selfish. Let go of my season ticket (travel etc just too much hassle these days) so will be selective about the games I travel too. less than 10. It means I can watch my local Wessex league teams more and then tune in to NowTV and watch Orient. I plan to go to many away games. Im sure the club think its worth it, financially and publicity wise even for many fans it will be a pain.

I guess I’m just a cynic. If you think the problems if modern football are the result of good people doing their best but making mistakes, well I envy your outlook. Being able to see the best in things is no doubt very beneficial to mental health and overall happiness.

Just read that last post and it sounds a bit condescending. Sorry, not my intention. Those are genuine sentiments. Not condescending, no worries. The state of football today. Huge success story, massive. Crowds up despite cost, ground redevelopments, worldwide appeal, investment. Even leagues 1 and 2 on Sky. I don’t think you will find many industries as successful. Personally I don’t much like PL football, not seen a game live for some time. Even if I could get a ticket. But as much as I don’t like what I see I cannot dispute its success. People/clubs motivated by money and success brings money. Not the game I grew up with. Don't make it corrupt.

I hope the clubs think it’s worth it. I don't think Orient will be impacted too much unless they are in the promotion race. The minimum 20 games that will be broadcast are mostly covered by midweek games, international breaks, first/last game and games on public holidays. Charlton at 12:30pm is a bit of a drag, but at least it is local. Hopefully games at the likes of Blackpool aren't impacted. Exeter away is midweek, so might make people think about watching the game on TV rather than heading down to the south west. Not that I would ever think of doing that!

Exeter away has always been a highlight for Mrs doh and me. Park in the city centre, meal, walk to the ground. Of course from where I live, Exeter is a nice drive and not too long. But have done the train, long walk from the station.
