Who is still available for us? Let’s presume as ever we have a limited transfer budget and are going for loans and frees. The below would all be loans as under contract
Thimotee Lo Tutala - Hull. At spurs before but on loan to Doncaster during their run to the playoffs. Not first choice up for loan again at a league above
Sol Brynn - Boro. Would there be anything wrong with getting him back? He’s still 4th choice there and we didn’t miss vigs as much as we thought we would
Alfie Whiteman and Brandon Austin. Both at spurs, both 25, both youth internationals and both ripe for a move as their prospects ain’t looking good at spurs. Haven’t seen either play but there’s clearly a pedigree.

I still harbour hopes that Vigs or Brynn may miraculously appear at the 11 hour with the club telling us that patience has been rewarded. Football does that to you!

Brynn was a good shot stopper but especially nearing the end, was prone to errors in judgment. Also flapped at crosses into the box, did not command his box in the manner of older generation keepers, Jackson to mention just one but of course that is a very high standard to judge any keeper by.

Vigs did spoil us,shame there was no sell on money.A miracle we picked him up,but we have good scouts looking at the cheaper and free end of the market who with some of our signings have done spectacularly well.So well done to all concerned and is the main reason I am so optimistic about bringing the players that will suit us well, with the odd failure that happens to all football teams. UP THE O'S,see you in the East Stand row C in early August.

Great Expectaions, patience Thor we will be well served. We have special people in charge of our club at the moment.Of course it could be a house of cards, but despite that I will be there.A football season without the O's is unthinkable.

Each of us is bound to some special others by the invisible fibres of loyalty.”

The love-in with Premier League academies annoys me. I know absolutely nothing about Alfie Whiteman or Brandon Austin but can see they've both been at Tottenham since 2015.
To me the pair of them are just stooges. Tottenham can't have youth teams and reserve teams without filling these positions, they need quotas of players to play games. Not every Spurs player is gonna be a superstar, and to me these two keepers are just filling spaces for others to hopefully flourish.
How can you be 25 years old at a club for 10 years, barely been on loan and only played 20 games. Can you even call yourself a professional footballer? An athlete maybe, but hardly a professional footballer.
I know i'm banging the drum here for Howes, but at a similar age he has more experience, more games under his belt, more international games and experience, more loans, is physically bigger, and already in the door.
It sounds harsh on Whiteman and Austin, and they're still young enough to go out, play some games, and prove what they are, but why haven't they? What are Tottenham actually doing for them? Do they just turn up and let 14 year olds ping footballs at them all day?

It sounds harsh on Whiteman and Austin, and they're still young enough to go out, play some games, and prove what they are, but why haven't they? The problem is if we get loan GK the parent club will want the player to be first choice or they will just recall them - this automatically relegates Howes to second choice. But there’s also reason the coaching staff haven’t got the faith to back Howes as #1, after all they work with him every day in training. Would a Harry Isted (for example) be any better than Howes? If Isted was signed on a permanent you have that ability to chop and change between Howes and him if one is having a bad run. I don’t mind at all giving Howes up until January to see how he goes but then look at our backups if he gets crocked and we’re immediately in a spot of bother. As for why the spurs keepers haven’t got more games or moved on I agree with you. When spurs sign Vicario last year that’s your signal to look for a new home surely. But with academy system and agents getting in early any talent is given a contract that they find hard to leave as they are picking up big money with no risk and it’s about their personal ambitions. Agents in their ear saying no one else will give them the wedge they are getting now. Also I remember reading somewhere that last season both Chelsea and Arsenal had a policy of not loaning their most talented youngsters to anywhere lower than the championship (not sure about spurs). With edwards to us and Jamie Cumming to Oxford notable exceptions.

I like the idea of Isted (who has gone out and has some experience) and Howes competing for the #1 spot.
The whole academy thing stinks to high heaven. We speak of Tottenham above, but it can be for any team really.
Who was the young guy we sold to Middlesbrough last year? He's totally disappeared.

Or just not on your radar since he left the club you support? It's only been a year and he'd previously not played higher than National League South. Reminds me of a conversation I once had with an ex-boss here in Germany: "Whatever happened to that ginger kid who played for Wolfsburg? Was supposed to be the next big thing but hasn't done anything since." "Do you mean Kevin de Bruyne?"

Marko Marosi is still available as a free agent but feel he may be heading to Huddersfield.
Radek Vitek also available on loan as well as talk regarding both Charlton keepers from last season being available.
Still lots of choice out there
