These posts bring back some memories
Wake Arms I remember going there on my motor bike - the bikers all used to meet there
I saw Hawkwind / Pink Floyd ( before Walters became a bore and a ego driven money greedy twit ) in London
I went to the pop concert at wheely with a tent and pretended I was a real hippy.
All the above feels like I lived in a different Stone Age world and today as I approach ancient age and death is just a memory in my head

But when hospital consultants visits and pathology test and scans dominate the week it seems the only purpose they say “good morning how are you “ is because the large fees they charge are for their own welfare - ie have inadequate funds and they will not see you and the health service here is typical as all places - privately they will see you immediately, but for some will have to go on the main health system and wait - and if your very lucky you may get one day to see some one. I have the funds to pay but some do not.

Were Floyd massively famous then or were they making their way to immortality at that point?

Yes the wake arms public house in a forest near Epping I cannot remember the precise place but I actually saw PF at Earle Court.
Floyd came from Cambridge I went to the grass field in Grandchester Meadows and walked around thinking I was in a higher plane - that what youth stupidity did to me

I thought your NHS system was a step up from ours, I'll stop complaining It’s very good hospital system I been taken into emergency at three different times by ambulance x2 and they were marvellous. The issue is if you go to the GP they refer you to a consultants and the first question they ask before the first meeting is “ have you private insurance “ which I have. The problems may start when you retire and then the insurance premium is a burden. The government has tax rules and if you don’t take out the insurance they impose a penalty levy on your tax return. Then if your spouse is working they increase the levy as they earn more.

I don’t come into that group.

I was too young to enjoy seeing the small faces at Leyton baths(tesco) or original Fleetwood Mac in leytonstone pubs. Orient had young mod groups perform before the kick off in 65/66 Wonder if any went on to fame!

I did not know the names of any of the groups/bands I saw way back. The group I remember with the best memories used to have reach out for me as a constant everytime we visited the Red Lion and it was far better than the recording. I do recall a group from Loughton called the Black Cats Bones, never heard them play and don't know if they made good.

Free were my favourite band to play along to on guitar when learning back in the 70s days. Cream had a very similar style Everyone wanted to be Clapton back then.
