Here is what Richie said about Arsenal, Spain and transfers. Last week we would have tow in before Spain and considering we fly out tomorrow he says now it’s one. Seems like a shambles to me. if they don’t back him and give him what he wants, needs and requires the board will deserve all the flack coming their way. We really are on the back foot now. Richie is very good, but let’s not take the pee out of his ability to over achieve. Give him the squad he needs and that over achievement may just get us closer to the top 7, don’t and it’s the bottom 7. www.leytonorient.com/news/2024/july/20/gaffer-on-arsenal--spain-and-transfers/

I am sure we will be fine and this social media does seems to be a platform for expressing worries.
Maybe more young players from the youth are going to be used as squad back ups.
I remain optimistic - simply because as a group all the directors, manager / coaching staff are not fools and under no circumstances will wish to be relegated.
The only negative point I must repeat is I genuinely believe the non playing staff as listed on the main lofc page is just too large. The other day I counted over 50 different names and that is extreme for a business that size.
That excluded the first team manager and coaches.
If it was my club the first action would to see if some of the staff roles can be combined and rationally reduced. I have never seen so many people in a small organisation all with different titles. The CEO was asked a similar question a year or so ago and in the interview he defended the numbers and in his words explained the quantum of people was aligned to how the club was developing and consistent with other clubs - I question that.
Yes cash flow and budget have an influence and of course the ground with the development costs are being executed.
It will take another closed season to satisfy most supporters with appropriate incoming players.

ECA whilst we all want the max amount of money put in the football pot, I do agree with the expansion of the non playing members as an indication of the clubs ambition to get to the championship as we need to be ready and not just rock and say “oh s*** now what do we do”? It’s prudent business practise.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say ‘shambles’ as I’ve no personal knowledge of how difficult it has been to get our targets to sign. The list that Richie will have drawn up along with others, will doubtless contain some really talented players, players who will be sought after by other clubs, so what can we offer that others can’t? On wages we won’t offer the highest. On length of contract we don’t seem to want to stretch to 3 years, but the deal for Moncur shows we will consider it, but if you’re an up and coming talent do you want to tie yourself down? Are we a big or glamorous club? Are we ambitious, we’ll probably all clubs would claim that. I suppose what we do have is a strong family based club, led by an excellent manager, who if you work hard and does what he says can improve you and potentially make you more valuable to others going forward. The last bit for me is our usp, and one I’m sure we’ll be emphasising. But getting players to sign on the basis of jam tomorrow is a hard pitch, especially against clubs with deep pockets who will claim the same, but can afford to keep a player financially better off than we can, in the meantime. So we end up waiting on players and their agents to make the decision, and we’ll end up with late signings and have to integrate them during the season. Far from ideal, but that’s where we are at and there is an opportunity there for young players like Obiero and Pegrum to seize their chance and make themselves part of the starting 11 discussion.

Zach is going to be a massive asset to us this season. Charlie will in all probability float in and out and be around the first team trying to make that breakthrough, I’m not sure he’s quite ready just yet, but will be an able deputy to the wide players we have in the squad.

To be honest ,even before I read that, I decided to ignore what Richie says about players. Long history of the divide between what he says and reality. This preseason is worse than ever. That takes some believing.
I don’t care whether we bring in 6,5,4,3,2 1,0 a reduction as has happened. Not fussed whether we act quickly or slowly. Not my club, not my money, not my decision. Our owners must operate in accordance with their personal finances and ambition, perfectly correct, totally understandable. But don’t take people for fools like some cheap salesman selling something that doesn’t stand up.
What I find infuriating, makes me angry and insulted, is the rhetoric, the false expectations, the hope being created. We are being treated like idiots and with a huge chunk of disrespect .Frankly as the main communicator of all these falsities Richie now looks stupid. The boss with no real control, no real authority. Just the poor sod fed with promises from above, let down, then expected to get on with it and perform the miracle. I feel for him. The number of times he has spoken about incomings, positions, why. And this is what he gets! What a joke.

Change the sheets and Keep The Faith 👍🙏 If you are referring to me I have a dry bed it’s warm and will always be there in that state - sorry to disappoint. My comments need to read and anyone that has had a business would understand the logic of costs: income ratio

Don’t know how old he is but he just loves to perpetuate this bed wetting stuff, tedious as it is. I’m sure one day he will grow up, look back and be embarrassed by it. It’s prudent business practise. But strategic planning has to be the correct business plan not a generic one that may of worked at another club where the cash flow was different or the capital needed for structural ground improvements did not coincide with a teams football development as lofc is now

I have no doubt we will get the players in we need, my issue is we have left it too late AGAIN, if we do bring in one player before Spain then that leaves us 3 short of what Ritchie wants for now.
The players will come but something isn't quite working when it comes to transfers at this football club and maybe we need to change how we go about it.
Bring in an experienced recruitment manager with connections that head up the windows and is accountable, I love Lingy he's a great DOF and club figurehead but he shouldn't be heading up a transfer committee

It's cheap to say someone is bed wetting when Thor does have a point. If you read Richie's interview he highlights the importance of this trip to Spain and if we are going there 3 players light (2 potential starters) then things haven't gone great. Once again we will get the players in but we won't be 100% ready come Bolton and that needs highlighting

Lot of conjecture and finger pointing as to why we are ‘slow’ , but where are the facts confirming it’s our fault? I get the frustration, but we won’t be alone. Perhaps the original message should have been, we have identified our targets, we just have to be patient to land them.

Out of ten how well do YOU consider the transfer window has gone so far taking into consideration what we still need with only a few weeks to go before Bolton?
