Does anyone remember he was invited on the pitch with a microphone at half time v Millwall to urge fans to join the supporters club. He found it difficult because of noise of Millwall fans singing so went into Alf Garnett and ranted. "If the Millwall lot don't want to listen they can bleeding pi** off home. Next match chairman page said sorry about the incident in his programme notes.

Great watching him portray Alf Garnett on Utube re: An evening with Alf Garnett LWT presentation.

I do remember that game, Millwall fans were all chanting Skinhead at him. 2-2 draw if memory serves me right.

Yes a 2-2 draw.mark Lararus was taunted for being Jewish by the mob. He scored and waved to them.they were furious. Doug Allder had a good game and scored for the lions.petchey clearly was impressed.

That predates me as an O's fan but is a great story. One I do recall (and I think correctly) was when 'Snooker Loopy' Steve Davis walked out on Hearn's red carpet at a home game on NY day against Gillingham, I think he was being presented as a new board member or some such...... The Gills had fair packed out the all-standing away end (now the South Stand) and I think that upon emerging from the tunnel and seeing such a densely packed terrace, he naturally assumed that he was charging arms aloft to the O's supporters whom would welcome him in as a new messiah of sorts... Needless to say.. (etc etc)

I met Warren Mitchell about 20 years ago, he told me that he watched Clapton Orient at Lea Bridge Road when he was a kid.
